    Hey folks,
I have not been to the area but it looks beautiful and peaceful. Thinking about a fall vac with Mrs. SMS for a romantic few days. Need leads on rental cabins, lake access options, senic drives, etc...

I found way too many options on Google, so I'll start my reconnaissance work here with the local experts.

    Thanks,

    Bill

Big Cedar Lodge in Branson/Table Rock is a great choice, they have private cabins and can be very quiet and secluded if you so desire (www.bigcedar.com).

Lake of the Ozarks is also an option, but true peace and quiet is hard to find there except mid-week. I have heard good things about the Resort & Yacht Club at ToadCove, which opened this year (www.toadcove.com). Also, the old standbys of Tan Tara (www.tan-tar-a.com) and the Four Seasons (not that Four Seasons) would be popular choices (www.4seasonsresort.com)

If you are interested in renting a house/condo at the Lake of the Ozarks let me know and I'll ask around. WIll you be trailering a boat? Renting one?

Both Table Rock and LOTO have plenty of great driving roads around, too!

Do you want to stay right on the Lake or right by it? Do you want to stay in the outlying, more isolated counties? If you want to stay by the lake, I would recommend tan-tar-a. they have a huge property right on the lake, both a nice hotel and a surrounding community with, if i remember correctly, houses for rent as well. there are a number of great restaurants nearby, including this place called Kay's that at least used to do an all you can eat breakfast, where you order one plate at a time and you get as many as you want. hopefully this helps a little, but it's probably been 5 years since my last trip down there.

Interesting leads so far, thanks guys. Big Cedar's private cabins looks inviting. Was wondering about boat rentals, now that I see the rates for 4 hrs of rental, if we plan to spend much time on the water I'll pull my own down. Unless we tie the trip to JimShadow's 308 Reunion weekend in Memphis, then we won't be towing a boat.

Can't say that did not cross my mind! Seems romantic enough, but for a 25th, it might be pushing it.

Actually, Table Rock is only 45 minutes from Eureka Springs, Beaver Lake is about 20-30 minutes away, and there are plenty of old hotels, B&B's, etc. in that area. Make it a week-long trip and kill two birds with one stone....

Eureka Springs is the wedding and honeymoon capital of the Ozarks.... multiple lakes and lots of very good restaurants. Vintage Hotels are nice or you can rent some incredible cabins in the mountains or overlooking the lake.
