As i stated in a prior thread, i am going to HK on 1/15 really for the purpose of getting some suits custom made. I understand the going rate is about $150/suit for good quality. I need one or two referrals of tailors to go to in HK. Any input is appreciated. I have some guys here in the states, and they run about $500/suit.

walk along Nathan Road/TST (near the Chungking Mansion) and a lot of tailors will offer you their service on the street. I didn't try them yet, so I can't recommand any of them and don't know about the quality. But a friend of mine used one of them several years ago and was very happy with the result.

hope that helps a bit :)

$500 for a bespoke suit in the US seems a little low to me. Who do you use?

There's a guy named Ravi from Thailand who is quite popular, and who I've used, but who I would recommend against. (Although that's not an answer to your question.)

I have some blazers made in HK from 20 years ago. I was there two years ago, but I didn't shop for clothes. t would call or stop by the concierge desk of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel and ask them.

Thanks for the advice. I have used Peter Raney and I know Fitwel comes highly recommended. If you buy 3-4 suits at a time w/ shirts, which is what i am going to do, it is about $500/suit w/ shirt in the 120's thread. My whole point for the HK trip was to get the suits made. Maybe I was just thinking it would be much cheaper there and I was overestimating the price difference. My $2k flight and $1k in hotel doesn't seem like it is worth it so much anymore LOL.

No, but it's a good justification for a nice trip to HK!

If you go, take Cathay Pacific business class. It's wonderful.

Try Remy Fashions,10D Carnarvon Mansions,Carnarvon rd (off Nathan rd).Phone 852(HongKong)23686929.
Fellow Fchatter had 2 suits and 3 buisness shirts made,to his specifications and material.
    This was about 3 years ago,the cost was $8677 HK,about $1100 Aussie.
Tiny little matchbox sized shop(on the LHS coming from Nathan Rd),I had to pick up a pair of remade trousers for one of the suits after his wife(still current) threw out the new pair, believing them to be for the Salvo's!

I have had several sport coats made there. A number of my friends use him also.
On Kowloon side, Nathan Road also.
He is tucked into one of the Arcades like most shops so you have to look for it.
    Happy shopping

Guys thanks for all the info! I have 5 solid leads now for tailors, so after corresponding with them, will select and purchase. I am going to get 4 suits and at least 4 shirts...
