Hey all, Now the fun really begins. I've got a nitrous setup I'm thinking of making . . . my car is an 81 with the stock fuel injection manifold . . . I'm thinking of making a plate (or actually 4 plates/spacers) that will go between the runners and the plenum. What I've got drawn up is 3/8" thick so it won't raise the plenum up too much. What I need are some kind of jets hopefully no bigger than 1/4" in dia with a thread . . . smaller the better. Hole size might need to be as small as .01" . . . my spacer plates will distribute the nitrous to each cylinder and I already have an efi system to deliver the extra fuel. I measured a 100hp jet which was delivering to all cylinders and I think I remember it being around .03-.045" . . . . so even .01 might be too big in the beginning. Any suggestions on jets I can use out of something? If too small for carb, what about radio controlled planes, etc.? Thanks, Sean
Sean. Some of our gluing equip. uses very small opening tips. Made out of brass. I'll check the catalog in the AM. They are threaded on one end, with the tip extending a fraction from the base. Stand by. DM
There was a dentist in Redondo Beach by the name of Carl Fung who ran an awesome and very cheap nitrous setup in a similar car. He was very active on the old FerrariList, but a google search should turn up something. If you can find any information about how he set it up, you'd probably save yourself a lot of time. And yes, as a dentist he had cheap and ready access to N2O
Good point . . . he's actually here on Fchat and goes by another name. His setup was a carb'd car and was adding fuel also . . . be a good starting point for orifice sizes though . . . I'll pm him. I just measured the orifice on the NOS kit I had and it's .039" . . . it was a low hp kit feeding all 8 cylinders so I guess .01" dia would be the eqiuvalent area roughly with 8 individual jets. The way it's designed I could also use 2 larger jets but I think it's better to have the orifice close to the port as possible. There's a Holley jet I found with a 6-32 thr'd but min size is .02 Let me know what you find DM Sean
Here's a pic of what I'm thinking . . . I don't think I'm extending anything into the port though . . . I'll crossdrill at an angle to direct nitrous down the port and interesect with other passage. Trying to tuck it all away under the plenum. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nitrous Express told me I could go up to 100hp jets, although I was going to use 50-75hp jets. Here is a pic of my install which is the simplest, I never actually used it and have now sold it but the pic might help Image Unavailable, Please Login
I had a setup something like that origionally which ended up burning an exhaust valve . . . the engine had over 100k on it and over .01" of wear in the guides so it was somewhat inevitable. I hope with the individual runner setup I can ultimately dump more than 100hp of nitrous down it's throat. Sean
Hey all, I'm ready for some kind of jet or orifice. I don't have a .01" drill or anyway to hold it so hopefully something will turn up. Sean Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just called nitrous express . . . .02" jets should be aorund 100 hp on 8 cylinder direct port . . . I'm going to try the Holley emulsion jet I found.
