I am working on getting a 328 and would like to line up a mechanic on Long Island for evaluation and services. What are your experiences (good or bad) with: Autosport Designs - huntington Universal Auto - glen cove Ferrari of LI - Plainview Any other suggestions?
i have heard of luigi and giuseppe of universal b4 as being good techs from a friend of mine who had his diablos worked on by them . also may wanna try lambo long island ( jericho li ) , tkx performance ( huntinton station ny ) . dont have any comments on ferrari of LI . But i have used a compoany b4 in huntington station owned by a guy named doug who is known for ferraris . I used to take my Diablo SV to him and was very unhappy with the service . He botched up a few jobs and would never reccomend them . I think his name is doug petrone if im not mistaken . He used to run a shop on 25a across from the chinese rest. just east of huntinton village , but then i heard he moved .
+1 However, FoLI also has some great mechanics like Enzo and the head of service Ed is a very nice gent as well.
The shop you are struggling to recall is Berlinetta Motorcars, owned by Doug Pirrone. He is the most qualified in this area. FWIW TKX is a hack shop. You'll be lucky if the car comes out of there without a new dent.
?? If that's the case, then also take it with two Pebble Beach concours wins, multiple total restorations, and references from clients the other shops/mechanics mentioned in this thread only get to read about.
Doug Pirrone was the broker for my car back in '01. Without going into detail, I'll say that the experience was less than enjoyable to say the least, to the point that the seller dropped him and we closed the deal on our own. Based on my experience, I would never recommend him...
Bassman, also consider Exoticars-USA located in Frenchtown, NJ. You'll find them extremely knowledgeable and accommodating http://www.exoticars-usa.com/
