Delicate since day 1 of my shift, the center vent finally puked on me today. One half
the moveable part took a dive into the deep recess below. I've filled in the space with
black cardboard for looks, but gotta find another.

I doubt year and model matter, but it's an '86 328 GTS - center vent. Ricambi doesn't
show any for sale right now.

Anyone have a source? or have a spare :) ? Repros are OK too if you know of any....

    Thanks!

Completely unobtanium. I had a broken one, bought a used one, and it snapped a month later :(

I would pay decent cash for something that won't break, but in the meantime it will just flap around.

Holy cow. You ain't kidding. If I turn up a source, I'll let you know. I MAY just bite
the bullet and try to fish the piece out of the bowels of the AC hose. But that does NOT
look like an easy prospect, to say the least. But then at least I could just glue it in place
so it LOOKS complete. If only I had a camera on a long flexible stick, with a gripper on
the end :) I know WHERE the broken piece is, I just can't GET the broken piece.

In the meantime, if anyone has one ... :D

I read somewhere (this forum?) that there is a fellow making replacement curved vents that fit the dash corners. Anyone know who I'm talking about? Perhaps these center vents could be his next project. If all three are the same and they fail often, there is certainly a market for a new and improved version of them.

AC vents for an '86 328.... then you're my NEW BEST FRIEND :D

You actually have to PM him. He doesn't always psychically detect new threads.

    Hi Jedi

Theres a guy on Ebay .com breaking a 328, Ebay user ID is Yamaha 404. He's currently advertising 328 front door 1/4 glass. He may be able to help..... Has lots of 328 bits!

I know the vent you need is very rare. My 308 was missing the one under the drivers side dash(same as dashtop)..... Daniel at Ricambi was able to source one for me,but it took ages.....

    Good Luck!

    Cheers
    Pete

I'm actually in a holding pattern for Daniel - we've been emailing and he THINKS he
has one, just has to find it first.... I'll post when or if it turns up. I've got my
fingers crossed. It was last seen in the UK for a scrapped plan to duplicate it :(
but may also be hiding in the warehouse somewhere.

    You called? ;)

These & the 308 counterpart vents have been on my 02it list for awhile, but I haven't come up with one to use as a pattern. If someone could loan me one to use as a pattern, I'll make a set of molds & begin supplying these bits of Unobtainium.

Any way to take one from under the dash and use in the dash? At least you won't see the missing one under the dash.

The part I need just pops out the top. Grab and pull (gently). I don't need
the flange that is under the dash.

I just emailed TRutlands per the post below. So between him and Daniel, IF I can get my hands on one
I'll happily let you borrow it to make a pattern. I know there are a LOT of folks looking for this item.

If all that is broken is the small tabs that pops into the ring, I can fix those. PM for details.

Jedi -- I've got bad news. I had two F40 ones, and one 328 one. Mike (Ricambi South) reminded me after they came back from Hill Engineering, we sold them to a company making one-of-a-kind Ferrari office furniture. I think they used them for those 'cable routing holes' you see toward the back of a desk. :( I think it was http://www.racechairs.com/

edit: You can actually see one of the vents here! http://www.racechairs.com/F40_Desk_p/ds102.htm
