    Advice please.
I am English but have lived in the states for the past 15 years.
I just received a letter from the Essex camera enforcement office at my address in the states, They are saying I was nominated as the driver of a ford car early in January and go on to ask if I would confirm that I was in England on the date mentioned, give them the owner of the car my driving licence # and details of insurance.
I assume I was cought by a camera for speeding but the letter has no mention of this.
Do you think I should just forget this or am I liable to be stopped next time I enter England for unpaid fines. Or could they some how interact with car rental companies and levy a fine next time I rent a car in England?
The letter is very polite and ends with a thank you in advance for my co-operation.
since I left England I have seen the traffic police and cameras get more like the gestapo every year.
Talking to my friends I am amazed any one has a licence not alone a clean one.

It's not difficult to keep a clean licence, just don't speed in 30, 40 or 50 zones. I have never had a speeding ticket in 28 years in the UK, in fact the only time I have ever been caught speeding was in L.A. by the CHP doing 65 on the freeway which was a 55 limit at the time.

Next you will be telling us you've never had an accident (but seen plenty!) ;-)

I think that you are probably the exception to the rule - or is it just me and the missus that keep the Gatsos in business...

loads of people have been caught on camera who live outside of the UK. From what I know of, unless the 'crime' is quite serious the law will not persue you and neither will there be any checks made when you re-enter the UK. I would not worry at all!

Doubt they would confer with car rental services.
If they have info on your US drivers licence, customs and excise may have a record.#

At the worse they would ask you to pay the fine.

What is the fine now £60 I think.

Had my first one last August. :-( Woman at a roundabout in front of me went, then decided to stop. As there was room for me to go as well, I went and BANG.
