My driver side exterior door handle will not pull open......does not move at all. I have had the door panel removed to see what may be the problem, spraying "Boeshield T-9" Lubrication on the mechanism for days with no change! There is absolutely no rust, and nothing seems broken. It was slowly getting harder to open before it ceased up.

Has this happened to anyone else....any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, John V.

If you loose the cable clamp and let the cable go lax, does it still bind?

    Good idea......I'll try that tonight!
Not sure if it matters, but the interior door handle works fine. Is that connected to the same cable?

IIRC, no, its different. Once you loose the cable you can see if its the cable thats stuck or something binding the shaft.

The shaft can rust and bind in the sleeve it sits in inside the door.

It's a bit of a pain, but patience and some rost off might free it up. Just be gentle, you don't want to snap the thing off.

I think there are replacement bits available too. you might want to replace that shaft while you're disassembling it.

Hey Uro, we did this repair on the passenger side of your car some time ago. still working ok?

Fine. If you remember I had to open it up and adjust everything after a woman tried to wrench off the handle on a locked door.
