Going to be sending off my 348 to have some paint correction done. With that wanted to get some opinions on the fender shields. They are stickers that where clear coated over. I know it comes down to what i like but honestly dont know how i feel about them. And now would be the time to have them remove. What are your thoughts? Keep or remove? If they're clear coated over, you'll likely have to have the fenders re-sprayed, as they probably put them on before the clear.

Thats the issue. One fender has a very badly touched up little mark in it. Although small i might want to fix it.

I can speak from firsthand experience that even high quality vinyl buried in clearcoat will eventually disrupt the clearcoat. Plus, that 'Enzo Ferrari' signature script is downright awful.

Remove them and have both front fenders resprayed.

In my opinion, the 348 doesn't have an identity crisis. So no extra labeling is needed. :)

However, fender shields (not stickers) are fitting for the 348 GT Competizione because...

"The 348 GT Competizione was a model designed specifically for the GT Championship on the 348 GTB platform."

Clear coat on the fenders isn't original. Has the car been damaged previously? It's possible/probable that there was some damage to the fenders or front that was repaired and the body shop cleared over the entire fender, including the shield stick ons. Stick on are tacky. If you want shields get the real deal. if not get ride of the stickers.

No shields gets my vote. Boggles my mind that someone would clear over decals on this car!

Simple for me - they are an aftermarket mod. They weren’t offered on your car. Be true to what the car was when original. Remove them.

My thoughts are, would absolutely remove them.

Also would say, do whatever makes you happy, I'm not a purist.

Thanks for all the input everyone! After reading your posts and giving it some thought, off they come. Just the fact that i asked if i should remove them tells me that i dont want them. Pluse i wouldn't add then if the car didnt come with them. Now for the real debate, paint top red? Lol that "mod" i like and will more then likely have done. Thanks everyone!

My opinion - do your homework on how the car came originally. If something needs to be reversed to make it right, do so. If you become a dedicated student of Ferrari and decide to be a steward of its heritage, you will reap a level of pride and ownership satisfaction that you’ll never regret.
