    Im going away with the wife for the weekend to New York city and I really need to surprise her. She knows we are going and when but I need to do something that really surprises her when we are on vacation so I need some ideas. Also some romantic songs. I have a bunch of the "poppy" current stuff but would like some stuff thats a little more mature.

    Do you have any memories of times when music provided a soundtrack, so to speak? Unlike the movies, it isn't always as obvious until you sometimes hear a song and think, "Oh wow! Remember this song?! That was when we were..." Think about things you did when you were first dating and maybe that will jar some memories loose.

    Listen to Garth Brooks version of "To Make You Feel My Love", written by Bob Dylan...great song and he does a great rendition of it. "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys is another classic, imho.

    Actually... just get the When Harry Met Sally soundtrack. It rocks. Not originals, but his versions are fantastic.

    The tThomas Crown Affair (Brosnan version) sound track is excellent as well (The Wasis Diop song is from that track).

    Dude... Moon Dance is a great, romantic song... Lady, by Lenny Kravitz might be something to add in a little later on... However - and i can't believe it hasn't already been mentioned - Barry White is pretty much the end all be all for romantic music... Barry White could sing about killing kittens and hate and death and murder and destruction and women would STILL love it... You CAN'T go wrong with Barry White...

    If she's into something a little more up-tempo, maybe for Maroon 5's new album... Lots of nice stuff on there that will definitely set a nice rhythm...

    As far as romantic "stuff" is concerned, the usual will do it; champagne, roses, rose petals and all that other stuff... However, setting the mood before getting in the mood DEFINITELY helps... Be as gentlemanly as you can be... Hold doors, hold her hand, kiss her softly for no reason, massage her feet, wash her hair in a candle lit bath tub, tell her how beautiful she looks, kiss her neck like it's the last thing you'll ever do, but like you have all the time in the world to do it... Make her feel like she's the only thing that matters; make her feel like she's the only woman in the universe... That will go far beyond any gift you can give her... Take her out to a nice restaurant, pull her chair out for her; if the place has music playing in the background, get up and dance with her by the table until the food comes... Ask her what SHE wants to do while you're on vacation... Find out what HER wants and needs are... Caress her cheek and look deep into her eyes and, as she's staring back at you, slip some Spanish Fly into her drink... :D


    Ok, maybe the last one is not so necessary... :)

    Probably should go for the standard romantic stuff, nice restaurant, roses, nice music, carriage ride, hotel room with candles and what not. Or maybe something out of the ordianary.
