Can anyone help me? I am new to this site. Have 575SA in HK and have just caught one of the rims of one of the Split Rim Modular Alloy wheels on a kerb. The damage is cosmetic with minor (but visible) scratches around about 30% of the rim. Does anyone know a good place in HK that can do good repairs on such damage (does Italian Motors? Have not asked them yet, but expect they want to sell me a new wheel....or do they?). I know there are places in UK and USA that do nvisible repairs and you can buy kits, but I wanted to see if anyone out there has any good tips before I try further afield. Thanks PAUL
There is a wheel repair shop name "Lane See Fu" in Kowloon. I think they advertised in local car magazine.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have looked up Lane See Fu online and in yellow pages/directories but cannot find it. I will try the local auto mags. Many thanks PAUL
鈴師傅 near Boundary Street For common kerb scratches and scrapes, They will do all 4 wheels for $1000. No need to book, but go early to avoid the queues. The address is:- 太子白楊街31號A座A1地舖. Tel: 2778 8183
Im sure IMSS will charge you dearly for the work. Sega is the shop you mentioned one of those places they lift your car up on the street and just do the work there?
I have found IMSS to be quite acceptable on the cost front. I have not taken a car in specifically for a small matter like a scuffed rim but I have had many small things done when a car is otherwise there for service. If you bought the car from them in my experience they bend over backwards to help on small matters at a more than acceptable cost. I would rather deal with IMSS than an outside shop as it is simply less hassle and the quality of work is consistently high. That is my experience on new cars under warranty, newer cars not under warranty and classic cars. Contrary to others who have posted from time to time I am absolutley happy with IMSS on my classic cars
Agreed, quality of work is fantastic at IMSS and simple things regarding touching up paint and or repainting parts are actually not that expensive come to think of it, and most likely better off doing at IMSS than any of the other paint shops. Scuffed wheels not sure either, but there is quite a bit of handy work that goes into refinishing a wheel properly, i once knew a guy who did fantastic work refinishing wheels and i would trust him on any of my stock or aftermarket wheels and my clients with aftermarket wheels, but too bad i dont know where we went. Last i heard he was working out of a shop in Hung Hom.
Thanks Guys. You are all ever so helpful. Much appreciated. I can probably live with the scuffs on the wheel unti the next service and will give IMSS a go in the first instance. Will let you all know the result....I guess in about 4 months time. Regards. PAUL
Hi Folks Just to get back to you. I sent the car in for its service at IMSS. They did a great job of touching up the wheel rim with a small (1-2 mm) skim around the very edge of the rim. Completely unoticeable now. They also touched up a couple of tiny stone chips up front with a very good matching Rosso Corsa paint. Again unoticeable. Here's an interesting point. I had to get a new battery as the original was getting progreesively incapable of holding charge. But have been doing some investigation and wonder if anyone has more knowledge? The glass roof is electrochromic and darkness can be adjusted. Only thing is that when engine off, assumes you might be in sunlight so holds glass dark, meaning in addition to things like alarm system, increases drain on battery. I understand that on the 612 Sessante, the glass roof only stays dark in engine off mode for 8 hours then battery is released, saving long term battery life. Am trying to see through IMSS if that is a small electronic control module that can be fitted retro in 575SA. Interesting. Rest of car continues to be perfect. Anyway, very pleased with the service and repairs by IMSS and as a couple of you mentioned....not that expensive. Regards PAUL
or wheel repair and tires ...call Ken at Advan at 2571-4781. he repaired my 360n wheels. Better yet, his shop is located next to Victoria Park Causeway Bay.
Happy to hear that your repairs went well and you were pleased with the cost. Very interesting about your battery and the electronic module for your roof. Please post when you have an outcome
