V10 order is in, but I'm thinking about doing a non-regular color. If the paint code exists, they can do it. Remember, it has two colors. The body color and the sideblade color. Give me suggestions for both. Post some pics of other cars with the color if possible. Thanks in advance.
I was thinking about going with the Amaranto. Not sure what color the sideblade would be. Maybe dark grey. (It's the dark red one) I'm thinking about having a test spray done to see if I really like the color. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I always had a thing for British Racing Green, it looks good on the Lotus Exige/Elise. I'm not sure how it'd look on an R8 though. I can't post a picture, Lotustalk.com is blocked on my work computer
I'm a Rossa Barchetta fan. I also like Radar Blue (see pic), but that's not everyone's cup of tea. Either way, I like matching side blades, or a titanium coloured ones. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think Orange would be a screeming color on the R8... not sure if that's what you'd want. Not sure on the Gambella paint code, but the GT3 RS paint code is "8C6" Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There is an RS orange R8 out there. A couple of them in fact. Not really feeling it. I'm of the opinion that dark colors go better with it. I think the design is more sophisticated than it is exotic, so I prefer more tame colors. Whites and greys also fit the image I think. Image Unavailable, Please Login
not surprising. Although, I do like it I agree that the wildest colors wouldn't work on it... to me Orange is somewhere between mild and wild. Midnight Blue Perl might work on it well too.
I've seen a few of the dark blue R8s and think they are beautiful. or, to keep in line with Audi racing heritage, silver with a red blade, a la the R8/R10 race cars? Image Unavailable, Please Login
The red R8 with a carbon fiber side blade looked great when I saw it at NAIAS. Here is a pic I took of it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/28295249@N05/3213405349/in/set-72157612541127915/
What about getting one in Nogaro blue like the S4's used to come in? Im always a fan of putting cars in colors that have existed for the mfg but not necessarily for that line.
Here are some photoshops I did of the dark red I'd like. I'm wondering if I can get them these and have them create something to the same effect. I know of one guy who submitted a shirt that he liked to Lamborghini, and they created the paint. What do you think? I myself like the silver, but the green on some cars like a Hemi Cuda or Lamborghini Miura looks wild.
That would be the R8 that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would drive LOL. Just like Red with Yellow is Ronald McDonald's car
I got it! I work at an Audi/Porsche/Mercedes/Aston Martin dealership's collision center and we had one we painted some stupid racing stripes and Audi ring decal before I got a chance to talk to customer. Pretty sure we've sold more R8s than any other US dealer (Penske owned and Audi of America is now down the street). We've had 20 on the lot once. I want to see a R8 with the traditional Audi rally/racing factory livery, you know, the slanted block thick stripes. This would be perfect on a R8 because the R8 has the slanted panel which matches the angle of the stripes anyhow. Most used either orange, brown, gray on white or yellow with these colors. True Audi racing heritage. If you wanna do it and can get the car to Virginia or if I can get you a white one delivered here as a fresh piece of canvas let me know. Would love to spray one in this scheme but my pay prevents me from buying one myself. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you wanted to do what ProRally suggests, you should just order white and then do nice vinyl decals. I'll throw two quick chops out, one is based on my fav color scheme from the Veyron, the pearl white and powder blue metallic from one of the early show cars. The other is a variation on the light blue metallic Audi already has, but with more of an aqua tint to make it an icy blue. IMO, pearls and metallics look best on the R8, because of the sharp curves in the shape. I think a Lambo orange pearl would look 10x better than the clearcoat orange you posted. Interest, but definitely not going to happen. If I did that, I'd be stuck with the car for life. It would be nearly impossible to sell.
