    Hi,

Rebuilding my 1973 246 GTS engine and need to bore then hone the cylinder walls. Am in need of a Torque Honing Plate, does anyone have one that I might borrow or rent?

    Thank you,

    Scott

I thought about using a torque plate at one point in my engine rebuild. It should make a difference but I think it is very little difference. I'm pretty sure all of the full blown Lancia Stratos racing motors were done without a torque plate. Some folks think you should have the block up to operating temperature with a torque plate when you do the bores. Most of this is probably way overkill on a road car.

Formula 1 , definitely. I don't think Fiat ever did that.
I have built a bunch of racing Alfa engines, and no noticeable difference
between the ones I'd made and the USA ones with torque plate.
Of course, this is track times, not dyno HP.

    Regards, Alberto
