    I'm cleaning up my Iphone 3g to dump (not sure if selling or what). I want to delete everything off of it prior to doing this. I connected to Itunes and did a restore to factory settings, however, my cell phone number is still in the summary. Can someone help me out with the proper way to clear it completely out? There's a million posts on the Internet on how to do this but I trust you guys here with the best answer.

    I have pulled the SIM card out which should take care of that. Is there anything else I should do before getting rid of it?

    Under Settings>General>Reset there is the option to completely erase the contents of the phone. That should be good enough for anything less than confidential material.

    In the settings you can "wipe" the whole phone to factory default. Erases everything.
