    Mike,

It will cost a few dollars but go to a paint jobber and buy a pint. Have them check the type of paint and they should be able to make a near perfect match. Most cost effective is a single stage urethane [same as base coat/clear coat w/out the clear step]. Red is expensive due to pigment. I would guess about 50-60 for a pint but you can keep it for future mishaps. Another is to just buy a base coat color match and use a clear touch up from an Autozone. Only problem will be the base tends to be more difficult to match to the car but such a small area should be OK. The color pens sound good but there is no guarantee it will match.

Matched when I used it and it is easy to apply on rock chips I wouldn't do a scratch with one

It's not a bad option unless you want lots of extra.

Either go to an auto paint dealer or a good body shop that has a laser paint matching system. I did this a while back and the guy came out with a camera and took a picture of my red rear deck . He went inside and stuck it in the computer and it spit out the formula and he mixed me a touch up bottle full for $7. It was a perfect match.

+1 on Steve Kings post. My family owns a body shop and I painted cars for 12 years. Go to an automotive paint supplier and let them take a reading off the car ( or bring them in a piece of the car ) along with your paint code, model, and year and they can mix you a touch up bottle that comes with a little brush for around $12.00. If you don't have paint guns, thinners, sealers etc. a quart of paint will just be a waste of $$. And If you don't know what your doing when it comes to mixing and spraying paint, and the type of surface your trying to match or spray over, the chemicals can end up lifting the factory paint and leaving you with quite a mess.

Just use a touch-up brush, and then you'll want to use this stuff to get rid of the "blob" after touch up -- it works GREAT
