My Dino is a 20' car and I cannot decide how far to go with painting. I want it as a nice driver and I'm not interested in showing it. Am I wasting money to just have it sprayed. There's minimual rust showing, it has few parking lot dents and a repaint in one area that doesn't match. I'm thinking just to sand, fix rust, and dings then spary. Thoughts welcomed.
O.O.P. John Corbani posted somewhere here - I don't think it was in a thread in Corbani's Corner, about painting a Dino. I think he mentioned it would cost about $10,000 minimum to do a correct job - without any rust or metal work required. Others will tell you $15,000, some will tell you $20-$25,000 thousand. If you need major metal work - who knows? However, John also had a relatively inexpensive job done on his own Dino that I believe cost him about $5,000. I believe he had it done in some sort of Ford Mustang color - something like Midnight Blue Metallic perhaps? I looked at John's car with Synchro, my mechanic, Mikeyr, and my wife in July 2009, and the car looked really good from 10 feet away - if you got pretty close you could spot some flaws - maybe a fly or two in the paint, but still . . . . It definitely looked great as a daily driver - which was the way John used his car. I have posted a couple of pictures that my wife took of John C's Dino elsewhere in the 206/246 section. My opinion is that if you want to enjoy driving your car and don't really feel the need for a perfect paint job, and you don't have rust or major body damage, then paint now, and then save the money for a super paint job later - but that's just my opinion - but you've asked for opinions, not an answer from God. The point is, get out and enjoy your car! Mark
