We can all talk and argue about the current youth's values and tastes as much as we want. Yes, they are not 'our generation'. Yes, they are a bunch of snowflakes with the attention span of an empty icecream cone. HOWEVER I can still vividly remember having posters when I was a teen of an F40 and a Countach. They were cars virtually all kids knew and had posters of. They were almost universally loved. Instantly recongnisable and thus iconic. The new 12 Cilindri is anything but that. I have showed the car to over a dozen people recently. No one could recognise it as a Ferrari. That to me is a not a good thing. Sorry. A Ferrari needs to be and should always be "The Dream". Something anyone from any age should aspire towards. It should fuel the desire to excel and be the ultimate tangiable carrot at the end of a stick. A true 'reward' for (decades) of hard work. I will reserve my final thoughts when I see the car in real life next week, but so far I'm not happy at all. Sure, it will drive amazingly with the same engine as my beloved Comp, with the new gear box and shorter wheel base. But still, it comes with the current packaging.... BTW thank you Ferrari for making the 812Comp virtually obsolete, so quickly.... All in all, not happy, but F*CK ME, I STILL WANT ONE!!!!
The number of true modern icons are few and far between. 288 GTO/F40/Countach/959/F1/Veyron/Zonda come to my mind.
I'd write the Zonda off, no non-enthusiast people know about Paganis. There are so few of them around that if you see one out in the wild I'd speculate there's a 10% chance of Horacio himself stepping out, especially in Europe.
Solid post. Hard to argue those points. I happen to like the 12 Cilindri and intend to move forward on one. But I’m in my 50’s. Not sure I would feel the same were I in my teens…
As an 812GTS owner I was a little (OK a lot) disappointed to find out that they were going to put that magical V12 in one more body so the 812 would technically not be the last Ferrari V-12 convertible. I am assuming they tried to do me a solid by putting it in THAT body. Fair enough.
I have kids who do not reflect nor do their friends - these posts not just selecting yours - are the same stuff I heard from my grandparents who saw wars. Who survived the Holocaust shall I go on about Vietnam - we all have it so bad in Ferrari owners group You all should try n talk to these kids - they are smarter than any of us and multi task better and don't go around making fun of others who they know nothing about, They actually respect people and their ives for who they are vs what someone thinks they are. Anyway. Really the new Ferrari - isn't Ferrari enough. 800+ hp spider - oh the pain I must endure from people when they see me driving up in a 12 cylinder Ferrari Spider. C'mon you guys are better than this - first it was chrome wheels bumper s manuals sticky buttons hybrid - Ferrari delivered a NA V12 - enjoy it. Yes I stil want one too! - we are supposed to now apologize?
Who cares. They will all sell and they will sound great and drive better. As you look back over the last half century not every Ferrari would win a beauty contest. Yet, they remain in demand 50 years on. STFU you silly haters or buy a lambo or a Taycan LOL Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Actually mine it was and not only mine , because was unique as per color and stripes ( at today I haven't see any with similar combo ) and was sold for $100k over msrp ...... and today , it was sold before the presentation 12C , maybe even more .........
I think I'll just give it time and wait to see in person. I can count on one hand the number of cars I truly loved at first sight, at least with me it takes time to soak in and appreciate the small details and curves that eventually makes me want a car. Hated the FF at launch, eventually bought one and loved it.
The C12 is bigger in every dimension...it is not "sleek", it is an optical illusion, only the "wheelbase" is slightly less, but the C12 is longer, taller, wider(or just as wide since that measurement seems to be confusing).
The V12s of recent years have all been too big and heavy. My comment was simply that to my eye the C12 looks sleeker than the previous two models.
I don't understand what everyone is whining about. People dream of owning a Ferrari. This is THE Ferrari at this particular moment in time. We are not used to the design (yet) but so what? First time I saw an FF I chuckled because I thought it looked silly ... and then I bought one and fell in love with it. Same with the Lusso that I own now. I have already placed my deposit for a 12Cilindri and I am sure by the time the car is delivered I will also be in love with it, as usual
I just still cannot understand the black bits on the car, and forcing them on all specs... The winglets, shooting out in black, on a GT V12 cruiser, makes no sense to me Also not loving the wheel choices either, but I'm a lowly armchair quarterback on this one.. declined to place an order and give deposit
Agreed on all points and also wheel comment. Others have referenced the Audi style wheel with the rotational design. Saw that immediately. Would have preferred a more radial concept that was different.
I just realized that I have seen the design elements of the 12 cilindri before and they're not from a vintage Ferrari. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
