Anyone living in Metro Boston: What are some good neighborhoods to live in?

How are Dorchester, the South Side, and Allston?

Based on your profile would you be coming here to go to school? If so I'll let others around here that did the boston school-thing comment.

If you are coming for college, which school will it be...this will enable us to help you with best parts of Boston for you...most likely Dorchester wont be a good choice for you.

Well, not college yet....my parents might be moving there. Most of the affordable housing is in Dorchester- is it a good location??

Dchester was once for the rich and declined over 75 years to an absolute slum. It is being regentrified to a large degree but certain areas are still dangerous. If you could watch my local news you would see shootings and stabbings in Roxbury and Dorchester fairly regularly, more so in Roxbury. That being said Dorchester has some beautiful old Victorian houses. Depends what you are looking for. The condo market has softened and the inner burbs have some values, medford, woburn etc.

    Good luck with the move

OK, my mom just got offered a job today in Newton. We're currently looking for houses in Newton, Brookline, and Brighton. Are their any good sites that show new constructions or newer homes? We've already looked at boston.com

I find realtor.com has pretty much anything that's on the market + a good search.

Those areas might be a little high, you may also want to look at Watertown, dedham, and arlington/belmont which are a few towns away from Newton, you know where in Newton?
