Does anyone know the way the numbers of the stampings associate with key cutting if there is one?
When you say "numbers of the stampings" I think you are referring to the key number that identifies the uncut blank key. The cutting code is separate and tells the person cutting the key where the 5 peaks and valleys occur (5 for the ignition key, the door is different). I suggest recording these numbers and placing them somewhere safe, the factory knew these were important and had the dealers write them on the factory delivery sheet.
Stuart at keys4classics in Australia will give it a good try and claims that if you send him a high res photo then he can send you a key to try in your lock to confirm it along with the cut code. Should that be unsuccessful he will provide another until correct. I found better luck getting my key cut code from some old time local guys: http://www.broadwaylocksmith.com/index.html PS - I also found my key cut codes on the delivery papers I obtained from Algar which they inherited from the USA importer Chinetti. If you car is a USA version and there is any possibilty it went through Chinetti then call Li at Algar, get your original delivery sheets and find it there.
the original delievery sheets didn't start noting that until the warranty booklet changed from the small blue dino book to the larger format red booklet. i have the original delivery stuff and it isn't indicated. when i bought the car, it had non-descript keys. now that i have the right keys, i wanted to get them stamped as per original, but there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason in the stamping that i am aware of. hence the question.... guess i could always stamp some random nice looking number on them for fun
