I have read everywhere here and google searches and get CONTINUOUS conflicting info..... does anyone KNOW for sure if this color is flat or has some metallic in it? I am believing it's the solid flat black with no metallic but I have read many adamant posts saying it is metallic. Can someone who HAS this color on their newer Ferrari tell me the answer please? Thanks always guys.

Flat no metallic. Went and looked at a car a couple days ago under the showroom lights in Nero DS. Looked great, paint looked wet. For my taste I prefer it to Nero Daytona which is a metallic black.

The dealer will be able to answer these questions about paint
PPG paint is used on the 458. There is an identifying sticker on the inside of the frunk cover
Nero Daytona is a metallic black
There are other variants of metallic black

Non metallic black paint can be either glossy which i think is the paint code you mention. There are also other non metallic paint which are more exotic such as matte, which is less gloss, but more than a true flat. And other triple layer paint with interesting visual effects.

It is traditional, flat black. No metallic. Henry Ford BLACK.

Congrats. Glossy black is a great paint choice.
Flat black is different from glossy black

No, flat simply means without pearls or metallic— you’re thinking of Matte.

To my understanding there is metallic vs non metallic
And there is glossy and less gloss which is matte
Flat is commonly used to describe a non gloss paint which has no sheen

I think most would describe this color as a glossy non-metallic black
But you say that it should be called a flat glossy black?
Anyway it’s best to use the paint code and to see the painted metal samples at the dealership so there is no confusion about the color you want

Nero DS looks amazing but it is not easy to keep it clean.

Glossy black is perhaps the most gorgeous paint color for many cars. But within a few hours you see the dust and then after washing and detailing all the imperfections stand out.

Nero Daytona might be a little more forgiving by comparison in some respects.

Ferrari has a pretty large number of paint colors. I think there are more than 20 different shades of red to choose from!

Full car PPF should be a strong consideration if going with Nero DS. A clean black car (even if just for a few minutes) is hard to beat for me.

Yes mine is already full PPF but I’ve yet to see it in person. It’ll be here Saturday or Sunday thankfully…. But as a professional detailer, paint correction and ceramic coating specialist (OCDetails and Coatings), I’m just hoping it was PPF’ed properly and that the paint underneath is/was corrected well prior to install. If not, I’ll be removing the PPF, correcting every millimeter, refining it and either redo the PPF or ceramic coat it. Hopefully it’s all perfect condition and all I have to do is polish the PPF and protect it with ceramic over the top…. Plus do all the plastics, wheels, lights and glass of course.

I agree. Nothing sexier than black when maintained properly. My previous two F cars were also black.
