the roof is Nero ds, the horizontal bar between the headlights is Nero veluto, the area before the boot spoiler is Nero veluto, the boot spoiler is Nero ds (but I’m planning on getting this in carbon)

here are the best three images of a black car I’ve found. Please share more if you have

I loved Nero Daytona on my 575 and 599 - but it's a real pain to keep clean, and it's not forgiving dirt (which gets immediately noticed, unlike on some other colors).
When clean it's really nice though.

Black cars are gorgeous when clean. They show dirt though.
Surprisingly white cars and silver and gray are better when it comes to hiding dirt.

My 458 spider was Nero Daytona. ( spun rods at 145,000 miles)
My F8 spider is silver N.

Between Nero and Daytona on the 12 C, we should remember that the Daytona stripe is painted with Nero Daytona.
A nero Daytona painted car might hide that dersign stripe.
A glossy non metallic Nero might offer a subtle accent to the nose stripe

I have yet to see a car So i'll defer to the more experienced who have.

I too am battling over which rim to pick.
I going with Nero and the spider.
The standard rims are lighter in terms of weight, but are cast and not forged.
he design is a little more traditional and less trendy and modern looking.

What do most feel is the more visually appealing choice for the rim?

Standard rims for sure. You can also have them painted in different colors than what is shown on the configurator

I think Nero Daytona is the way to go. The metallic paint will bode well with the design of the car. Good point about the nose stripe being Nero Daytona

I wemt with metallic Nero Daytona for the 458 spider becuase I thought lt it would hide dirt better and offer some contrast to the black trim which was glossy black, sort of like Piano Black found in Mercedes and Rolls Royce cars

I also went with metallic for the 458S since I thought the metallic flake would be more stone chip resistant than glossy black. Nero Daytona has an interesting golden brown hue depending in the lighting

Anyway, Im throwing caution to the wind and going glossy deep and pure black

I remember seeing James Coburn's Black California spider in pictures. Im not sure if that was the original color delivered by the factory.

But after a while I kept thinking about his Black car, It was not a common choice the late 60's

But it was super cool and held a certain added rarity, over the decades.

I also decided against re-sell red or bright yellow or deep
    metallic greens.

    Not this time, at least.

The stripe between the headlights of the 12C is painted in "Nero Velluto".

Im hoping that the standard rim design and metal casting improvements will lead to a stronger rim compared to the cast rims Ferrari produced 20 years ago.

Foes anyone know the weight penalty of the machined forged rims vs the lighter standard rims

There are a variety of black trim parts
And they vary in terms of their paint names and appearance

So here is what I know and don’t

Nose stripe between headlights: Plexiglass plastic which is painted on its reverse side Nero Daytona (metallic)

Little trim below nose stripe painted matte black
Don’t know the name of this paint

    Front inlets painted matte black

Front 1/4 panel rectangular insert painted glossy black which matches the lower half of wing mirror glossy black. Don’t know the name of this paint

Roof of coupe pained Nero glossy black matching exterior standard glossy Nero paint

    Side skirts painted matte black

Delta Wing and active aero flaps painted Nero — a glossy black but different from the roof Nero . But is matching the lower portion of the wing mirrors and rectangular inlet of front 1/4 panel. What is the name of this glossy black?

Rear bumper and diffuser— matte black matching side skirts and front bumper inlets Anyone know the name of this matte black?

Front hood collar- matte black. Maybe matches the other matte black parts. Anyone know the paint name?

Please chime in and correct anything which is incorrect!

    Thanks!

I do believe this the the new design strategy for Ferrari

use many types of paints and material

It’s no longer about matching everything against a standard based on the past

Interiors also reflect this same approach. Mix leather and Alcantara and also fabrics .

Use non matching screens with different shapes and panel qualities. Nits and pixel size and type of screens all different

Nothing really matches Doesn’t need to

I think the first photo is a Daytona black car Metallic paint. Notice how the front stripe almost disappears, because it’s the same paint color.

And then one can spot how the roof is a different color paint. Look at the top of the ‘A’ pillar which is painted in metallic. The roof in the coupe is Nero DS which is glossy black.

The roof in the spider is the body exterior color.

However the B pillar panels are done in a glossy black. This will match the lower glossy black wing mirrors. Anyone know the name of this glossy black plastic please chime in.

Velutto means velvet in Italian. Not sure how that describes the color.

So if you are getting a coupe, know that the roof won’t be the same black as Nero Daytona metallic.

If you are getting a spider then the Nero Daytona will have a contrast with the glossy non-metallic B pilllar covers and lower wing mirrors and ‘tail-feathers’.

As far as the black stripe connecting the headlights, I think that will match the Daytona metallic paint since it is the same paint. The lower little strip #2, below the front stipe is not metallic black. But a dull non gloss non metallic black paint,

If you decide to do a glossy non metallic Nero DS then this will contrast a bit more with the front strip in both coupe and spider.

In the coupe there will be no separation to the roof since all coupes have the roof in Nero DS

In the spider the roof is the same as the exterior color. The glossy black B panels and the lower glossy black side mirrors will be a pretty close match. So too with the ‘tail feathers’

Anyway it’s fun to think about these details

In person Nero Daytona has this brownish metallic flavor.

Saw a Shmee post about his 12C coupe. Very retro historic spec.

Interior is Iroko and Crema Of course this makes the interior actually a quattro colori , since the carpet is a different color and there is black leather on the center hub of the steering wheel , and black Alcantara on the dash, lower dash, and black fabrics

Here is a correction to my previous post about the spider toof color.

It is Nero DS and not the exterior color

So if you pick Nero Daytona, the glossy black roof wont match the metallic exterior paint.

Mayne that makes a case for Nero ds as a unifying exterior black paint color.

Otherwise pick a color which contrasts nicely with glossy black. Knoeijg that when the roof is closed one has a 2 tone car

This is a nice video which show the color of the spider roof in closed position And it shows the spider wearing the forged modern rims.

So I personally think that if you get black get the Nero Glossy non metallic and not Nero Daytona.

Otherwise get a nice contrasting color. It will look very beautiful

In other words either accentuate the designers intent or play it down with gloss Nero body color which will match the roof and rear ‘tail-feathers’.
