I have reseved this unmade model of a 1965 Ferrari 275GTB thats in the 1:12 scale. But offering the body up to my other 1:12 models that are made which include the 250GTO, 312B, 312T4 312T and the tamiya 1:12 enzo and F50. This new model is way way larger in scale than my other 1:12 models.
Why would that be? Are Revell models known to be larger than other types?
I thought 1:12 was well......1:12 scale of the real thing;) Anyone?????...

    Perhaps its 1:12.5

Seriosuly though I've noticed that some models seem to vary a little in size depending on quality, and when it was made.

Its a 1978 model. It actually cost twice the price of one of my very detailed 312T4 Tamiyas. It still looks a detailed kit, but this kit does not include transfers.

Oh dear:( I thought there would have been at least one modeling grandmaster/expert who could answer my question. :(

A couple of years ago I also bought this kit ( I never build it and before moving to another house the kit ended in the garbage bin) …. . When I looked at the body I got a bit disappointed. The wheel cases on the front did not look realistic. When I look at pictures of a build model the track of the wheels also looks to small in comparison to the body. Are there others that share my opinion?…

By the looks of it no one has an opinion of it anyway;) And as for throwing the kit away, ya threw away £100 worth of model, thats how much there feaching these days. Not clever:(
I chose this kit becourse i have all the Pochers and all the Tamiya 1:12 models. I was always after a 275 1:12 and this was the only one that i could find. So what 275 did you get to replace the Revell 275 that ya threw away ???? And the whole point of modeling is to make an accurate representation in minature of a chosen model, and if this involves cutting and custumizing parts then so be it. Shame ya chucked it becourse i bet there would have been some collector who would have bought it and made a fine model from it. If you look at what a skilled modeler can do with a basic model its amazing. Have ya seen scaledetails 250 GTO? Once you have seen what he has done with that then you will understand were i am comming from:)

It's just another example of the fattening of America! Large Coke at McDonald's is 50% larger than it used to be, Large Polo shirt is 25% larger, and now car models?! Where will it end?!

I owned a poorly built version of this kit that I got cheap, and I gave it away to someone after not being able to sell it for $5 at several shows. I do not regret dumping it one bit. It's not a particularly good model; it just doesn't capture the look or feel of a 275 GTB. Unless you want to spend hundreds of hours fixing the inherent flaws. They may fetch big money as they are the only 1/12 scale version of this car, but that doesn't guarantee it's anywhere nearly as good as the other 1/12 scale models mentioned.

Caveat Emptor. I have Italeri 1/24 275 GTB and NART Spyder kits, they're not perfect but they're better models by far, they look good and there are good aftermarket parts available to upgrade the kits with more proper seats and engines.

Clealy you have not seen the Pocher Testarossa model:) Talk about out of proportion door and bonnet seams:D Yet these are called one of the best models. These are a far cry from the F40 Pochers.

Of course, the basis is not very good. But with a little effort and a good paint ... it can look very great.

Well I'll say that I don’t build models so should probably have no say I this but inset 1:12 scale against the real car so unless all the cars that Ferrari build or any company for that matter are all the exact size the no 2 models should be the exact same size.

I know this thread began with the 275, but someone mentioned that the Pocher TRs are not as good as the F40. Well, I'm midway through my second F40, and I've built two of the Testarossa's and, frankly, I don't think *any* of them are particularly good kits.

They have visual impact due to their size, but the detail of the moldings is not great (for example, the brake calipers are not detailed enough to realistically add brake lines, and other moldings - i.e. emblems - could be of finer resolution), nor is the detail in the quantity of parts. On the current F40, the windows/window frames do not fit into the body (they did on the first one), so I have yet to tackle that problem (but think I have a good idea how...). These are clearly kits for amatuers and not seasoned modellers.

In the meantime, if anyone out there wants an unbuilt Alfa Romeo Mille Miglia (also Pocher - the super detailed kit w/ crank/pistons, working brakes (IIRC) and lights, wire wheels you build spoke by spoke, etc.), please pm me.
