Here are a few pics... This is my horribly outdated Ferrari shelf... I need to dust and update it... Image Unavailable, Please Login These are all Mattel/Hotwheels. In the back you can see the 1:43 scale cars, including the Yellow Daytona Spider, Black F40, Black 348GTS, Red F50, Red 512M and Silver 456... These are my "Real Rider" Ferraris... Image Unavailable, Please Login Back row LtoR: Enzo, 360, Daytona, 330 P4, 250GTO, Sharknose. The larger car in front is a Hotwheels/Mebetoy "Gran Toro Supergross" Ferrari 612P. It is a restoration project. I have the wing and will be repairing the car as soon as I figure out how. The white metal wing stanchion has snapped off at the rollbar. Here is the "Supergross" again with the new Scuderia and Lambo Reventon for scale comparison to the mainline cars... The Ford GTLM is very nice, only wish they had put the fatter split5's on the rear. I will say, you can totally tell that Mattel is intent on pleasing Ferrari. All their F cars are spot on with excellent choices in the wheels they are equipped with. Contrast that with their Lamborghini Murcielago and Reventon which are very nice castings, but then they let the whole car down by putting short axlesets in the rear wheels, leaving the cars looking terrible.
Those are not easy to find these days, even harder mint in box or even harder yet is one marked as Gran Toros on the base. That is who they were before the Hot Wheels buy out. They made a few Ferrari's that were pretty cool for their time including the 512s. I think they started casting some of their Ferraris in the late 1960's, and there are reports of a Russian co making knockoffs recently.
The local group got together today for its annual Toy Run for Children's Hospital and TRU is the meeting point. A few pics: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=139209940&postcount=24 I hit the jackpot in terms of 5 packs; they are on sale 2 for $6.99 thru today only. I bought 15 Ferrari 5 packs, 14 of the "new" and 1 old. I kept the old for myself and 2 of the new (1 for me, 1 for my son) and donated the balance (12) to the Toy Run. Just noticed: the "old" rang up as $7.99 and not on sale; the "new" were $3.49 & $3.50 (i.e. 2 for $6.99). Below are a couple pics of what I bought for myself, I mean for my son as Christmas gifts. "old" is on left; "new" is on right. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's very cool that you donated so many! I found a new 5pack at TRU a couple days ago, then today I found six of the Racers. In addition to the 3 you have shown, I got a GTO w/ green/white stripes, 599 GTB Fiorano w/ white stripe, and a silver F430 Spider.
When you get it, can you post some more pics of it? I got the Veyron in White/Silver last year as a Mystery Car, and the casting was flat out terrible. Flash all over it, a distinct bow in the car longitudinally, and the wheel sets were so narrow the car looked like it had four bicycle tires. I gave it away I was so disgusted with it.
For sure. I open all my Hot Wheel Veyrons. I just saw this yellow mystery car go for $16.00 incl shipping last week. Ugly as some may be 2 of them are pretty htf. The black and blood red car, and that yellow variation. I would also think the silver/blue with faster than ever wheels would be pretty htf as well. I have one packed away.. Here are a few... It is a shame that the HotWheels version does not have even close to the same build quality as the 1:1 version....
Did some minor rearranging of the closet display; below are a few pics. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
