Who would you recommend for restoration and mechanical service in the Denver area? The car is actually very nice. 14,800 original miles. New cam belts and seals, oil change 12/4 but would like to have it looked at by someone locally. It has those goofy aftermarket rubber side moldings. Also an ugly old Escort radar detector in the middle of the console and an 80's aftermarket Alpine cassett and equalizer. Otherwise the paint is perfect, the car is pristine cosmetically, the oil pressure is great, the windows, headlights, and heater/ AC work great and the gearbox fells like brand new. I'd like to remove the moldings ASAP because they bug me. The radar detector and cassett next, but especially any untended items on the 30K service. I would ultimately like to bring it back to concourse condition. No pics yet as I got it yesterday, but got it out for a 20 mile ride and it performed flawlessly. It's really a very nice car. Red/black. What a great Christmas present!

I have a 1985 308 qv, the only person who I would ever recommend is Scuderia Rampante in Boulder Dave Helms. He is by far the best Ferrari mechanic in Colorado. Glad to have another proud Ferrari owner. Congrats

Thanks. Yes, I know Dave. I'd like to find someone in Denver if possible.

Dave Helms is the BEST in town, it's worth the inconvienience to have him do the work, if you want it done right.

Even if Dave was in New York I would take my cars to him. He is the most honest, guy I know. I have had this 308 for almost 10 years, + my other Ferraris. Dave is the best by far

I'll second the comments on Dave, I havent yet had to take mine to him, but he has the best reputation, and if/when my car needs a major, he'll do it.

However, I know of another shop here in denver that does OLDER (vintage section...???) Ferrari restorations. I have the business card around here somewhere, I'll post it when I can.

EDIT: Found the card. The place is called "Classic Investments", www.classicinvest.com. NOTE: I have NEVER used them, I got this business card from a co-worker who knows I own a 308. Seems they do more older/restorations kinda stuff. Located on Mariposa, just off of Sante Fe around the Oxford intersection I believe. Again, I've NEVER done business with them, so this isnt a recommendation, only passing on the info.

Try using the search function, this topic is asked frequently. I'll also offer my humble opinion that FoD has one of the best technicians anywhere. Our top Ferrari tech was recently awarded by Ferrari with the distinction of being the most knowledgable mechanic in all of North America and the fourth highest rated mechanic of any franchised dealer in the world!

There is also a few independants, friend-of-a-friend mechanics with good reputations. Sherpa aka Ryan can point you to at least one.

Very very true as well from what I've heard. Sherpa speaks very highly of the technician there.

Luckily, so far only minor things have cropped up for me. My radiator issues will need to be resolved prior to the hot summer months, so I'm going to have to take it somewhere.

Dave Helms is not just the best Ferrari mechanic in Colorado, but probably the best in North America.
