Hi Guys, this is my first Ferrari ever, i have dreamt of owning a Ferrari since i was 5, i'm 37 now and my dream has finally come true here are some picture of my baby... Photobucket is blocked from my office, so i cannot see how large the pictures are(i'll re-size them once i get home) So as a first time owner, what are the Do's and Dont's? The sales rep at Ferrari told me that every-time i stop the Italia at a traffic light, i should shift the gear into (N) Neutral to avoid burning the clutch, is this true? i find that hard to believe. could anyone confirm that since it puts me in a state of Panic every time i stop the car at a light. also any comments and feedback for a new owner would be highly appreciated. one more thing, the fire issue with italia's has been resolved right? Thanks again guys, looking forward to your feedback! Marwan, (from the UAE)
Nice car. You sure like red! It is my understanding you do not to put the transmission into neutral, but it won't hurt to do so. The flammable glue that caused some early 458's to burn down has not been used since early 2010 (not 100% sure on the date, but it's been a long time). Congrats and enjoy in good health! I still have 7 months of waiting to do.... Onno
Congrat's on the new car. There is absolutely no need to put the transmission into neutral on a 458. You didn't even have to do that with the F1 box on the 430 so your dealer isn't giving out correct advice. Is the front licence plate holder a new Ferrari part or something your dealer source themselves? It looks a far better solution than anything else I've seen.
Where I come from, the Ferrari owner in the office usually has the power to fix problems like this. Congrats on the new toy!
Great, thanks for the help, you know what they say about dealer! pffff hehehe. he freaked me about saying that leaving gear 1 engaged while idle would burn the clutch! ;0 As for the plate holder it's been fixed by the dealer, all Ferrari's here in the UAE have that same plate holder..
You have good taste in cars! Bimmers and Ferraris! I only have the former...but I love her! Only thing I'd wanna add would be racing seats, but you'll love it either way.
What a daring interior -- but it works! I have no idea why your dealer tells you to shift to N. To me, that's just silly. There should be no reason to as the car will do it by itself if you leave your foot off the brake at a stop light. The car is designed to work in 1st all the time. I have never heard of this. As to the fire issue, yes, that was resolved 2 years ago. It was a problem of some adhesive that was incorrectly applied. The problem has gone away since and I have complete confidence in mine on this issue. The only thing I would suggest is not to be afraid to drive it in Race mode all the time as this seems to be the most lively of the Manetino settings. Unless you are totally crazy in the turns, the tail will not slide out. But, the gearbox shifts faster and the engine noise is fantastic. If the ride is too bumpy, press the "shock absorber" button on the steering wheel and the ride will automatically become softer while still everything else in Race mode is the same. Enjoy your car and thanks for sharing the pics!
Great car bro , prefect interior even with the yellow tach and that dealership is one traffic light away from home enjoy it , mabrook
Just.... wow. These guys have no clue. Is this the first 458 they've sold because they obviously don't know anything about how the new transmission works. The 458 has a wet clutch system. The clutch is designed to last the life of the car without replacement.
Awesome pictures with great resolution! Rosso Scuderia? Your interior is well done and looks stunning! I've always said you can never have too much red on a car, boat or woman! Congratulations!
Very Nice! The only downside to the 458 is that if you buy older Ferraris, don't expect them to be like the 458 As to driving the 458, you seem a bit nervous but that is actually a good thing. The 458 is a monster in sheep's clothing. There is lots of power to get you in and out of trouble. One suggestion is that maybe you could take the Pilota course so you can get intimate with all the 458 can do. Or take her to the track, that way you can control her aggression. But most of all drive her and enjoy her
Mabrook Marawn........love the red interior.....similar to my Scud ....the red will grow on you LOL!!!! No like the other FChatters said.....no need to do that at all; actually it is recommended to let not to intervene!!! Also; stay away from reversing a whole lot (avoid it when you can) it will sure keep your clutch healthy!!!.....plan your trips well and do not Valet the car (do not trust everyone with it) .after all this is not a Benz nor a Bentley it is a state of the art mechanical marvel!!!....enjoy it in good health
hey marwan. mabrook. i am from the uae too. i have a 2009 red 430 scuderia. let me know if u r interested in meeting. Fahad
Just in the interests of accuracy it was resolved a year ago The revised assembly method was introduced from September '10 production and the recall work on cars built prior to this to remove the glue and replace with rivet fastenings was carried out from mid September from memory.
Marwan, the car looks great. How does it feel to drive ? What to you think about putting some Exhuast on the 458? I know its new but I was thinking like Akrapovic Titanium Slip-On Exhaust System. check out this vid. other also check it out or you might have seen it. let me know what you think. Just the sound is amazing. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsZSkAw5Dr8&feature=player_embedded[/ame]
