I currently own a 488 GTB and love the car.
Was about to order a NEW 2019 488 Spider when the opportunity arose to pick up a well equipped NEW discounted 2018 Performante Coupe at about the same price.
Never owned a Lambo and never drove the Performante so unsure of what my best bet is.
Main use of car is for weekend cruising.
Also, which will hold it's value better?
    Thanks

If you want to go fast and on track Performante. I had it and it is a beast, a perfect car.
If you really want to cruise 488 spider which I have now ;)
Value is something I never calculate being a guess ;)

Performante is an awesome car! Drive it . It’s exciting , sounds great, has soul and its the best drivers car lambo has ever built. I liked my 488 but the Performante is just crazy..

What is msrp of a Performante? What do they run and what are they selling for lately? I’m becoming more and more intrigued by this car as I’m getting no love from Ferrari for a Pista. Looking to mix things up possibly.

My perf spyder is absolutely insane.
488 is a better gt car and calmer of the two.
Shocked how good the perf is.

    100% agree.
And that’s why I sold it. To perfect to be safe on open roads.

Bought a 488 spider also, but to answer your question since I have the 458 and perf spiders currently...the Perf is significantly better than the 458.
But...the 458 IS A FERRARI and has a scream to the engine that the perf cant match.
I have noticed that in SoCal where I drive, the Lambo seems like "rock star" with people smiling and thumbs up and talkative. The ferrari is "1% er" and gets middle finger and resentment.
The perf is so incredibly rigid and the interior gadgets work like a modern car. The 458 is admittedly old, but the 488 has very similar dated tech.
No faulting either car. Just a preference. And the 488 has its place as a very fast sports car also. Depends what you want.
I expect Pista to be slower than 720 and maybe Perf, but to be "so more alive and playful" when reviewed. Kinda like Speciale wasnt the best but was always "the best".
You can PM me for more insights on the actual driving characteristics.

I drove the Perf today and it is a great car.
I'm sure it's awesome on the track and garners much attention on the roads (maybe too much).
However, I'm not sure it is the best for my stated purpose and age.
I am looking to replace my 488 GTB with something that will be fun to cruise around in on nice weekends and be relatively comfortable.
Perf spyder might be the answer but prefer not to spend as much as it will cost so it's not in the equation as of today.

You’ve experienced the 488 and plan on selling it. 488 Spyder is a sweet rig, but will be largely redundant to you. Take a walk on the wild side. Perf.

If you decide to reload in a few years, you can do it with the 488 Spyder replacement.

If u want something which is comfortable to cruise around then I say performante is not ideal. Also depending on the seats, the ergonomics in it is not the best...otherwise an awesome car to go fast...

I love Performante as well. Grass always greener the other side. It is the best bang for the buck and it looks special inside and out, I am itching to get one and know I will love it. Only thing holding me back is I had two small bull before, but never a big bull. I test drove the Performante and Aventador S as well. Both really great cars.

Performante and the Spider version really are special cars. I drove a coupe and couldn't believe how sublime it was. There is an instant feeling of being wired into the machine. Only other cars that gave me that same vibe were our Scuderia and the 458.
We had a 570-4 SL and it wasn't nearly as connected as the Performante. We also had a Aventador Roadster and...believe it or not...the Performante was absolutely the better overall experience.

The race seats are horrible for most people. Get the comfort seats *for sure*.

With that said, If I were in the market for a mid $300s car I would get a Speciale. 458 Speciales have what the Performante offers 10x.

How on earth are you of all people not getting any love from Ferrari for a Pista?

Lol. I’m no one special. Plenty of other heavy hitters out there. I’m a peon in relative terms.

However I thank you for pumping up my ego. Ha ha.

But others do not have your level of humility. Probably why you're more respected. I've certainly enjoyed your posts.

Well I certainly appreciate your kind words and I don’t know how respected I am. I just try to tell the truth and treat people with respect when deserved. :)

Get both! but seriously Lambo is an animal and is quicker than the F car - but nowhere near as comfortable and if your 6'2 like me I cant see out of the windshield without squatting in my seat a bit - and yes lambos always get that extra look

I think Lambo made too many Perfs, with supply now exceeding demand.

    This always means discount time!

Was it too stiff or too loud?
I enjoy my Perf, but as some say, it is almost too good....as dustman suggested, I may go to a Speciale.
But in your case, how about a Huracan Spyder?

The Performante offers 3 different personalities in one car. Driving in strada mode is almost daily driver like. Exhaust note is reduced, suspension is more comfortable and the gear shifts seamless and at lower revs. Going to sport, turns the ***** cat into a tiger. Engine sound growls and comes to life. The suspension is significantly firmer and tighter and the driving excitement increases to a new level. Driving engagement is dramatically heightened. Corsa mode- must be experienced not explained.

Not sure what happened to my response above in #21 but here it is :

I found that the 3 settings allowed me to "customize" how stiff or how loud it was.
So in "strata" it was neither too stiff nor too loud whereas "corsa" was stiff and loud.
Also, if it has Lift+ which adds magnetorheological shock absorbers it smooths out the ride.
As I mentioned in my post #9 the Spyder might be the answer but I prefer not to spend the price those command and I'm not in love with a soft top when hard top convertibles are now available.
