First I would like to say that reading the threads from the community of posters on this board has been an incredible asset in making the right Ferrari purchase. So, thanks a million and hopefully I can be helpful to others in the future. I bought a 1995 348 Spyder 32k miles, which I think fits my budget/desire balance perfect. What I would like to know is there a souce or book that lines out the basic schedule of maintainence. I live in Portland where we seem to have a good dealer to perform the maintenence, but I would like to read in depth what makes my new toy tick and how to keep it running smoothly. Any recommendations on books that I could buy would be appreciated.

Congratulations on the new car, Richard! It sounds like you will have a lot of fun with it.

On the subject of books for your 348, of course you should start off with the Factory Owners Handbook (which they call the Technical Manual). I believe there is a service and maintenance book, with coupons for each scheduled service, but I never got one of those, so I'm not sure what's in it. Then there is the 2 volume Workshop Manual, and the Electrical Wiring Manual, and the Spare Parts Catalog.

Some of the other books that you may find of interest:
    1) Original Ferrari V8, by Keith Bluemel
    2) Ferrari 348, by Enrico Benzing (available as either hardbound or softbound) in Italian and English
    3) Ferrari 348, by Werner Schruf (in German, with slipcover)
    4) Ferrari 328/348/Mondial Gold Portfolio, by Brooklands Books
    5) Ferrari Story #21 348 (in Italian and English)
    6) Forza Issue #30, 348 Buyers Guide

I have numerous other magazines with articles on the 348 (not in the Brooklands book), plus some factory brochures.

Of course, there is no better reference source than Ferrari Chat! Welcome!

Congrats!! I love the 348 Spider. Be sure to post some pics so the rest of us can be jealous...

With regard to your question, Bluemel's Original Ferrari V-8 is a great book, but I'd check the owners manual and consult with your local Ferrari mechanic (Tonkin or another) to figure what's due and when. Definitely locate and read the service invoice for the last major service to see what was done and when.

These are the pictures from when the car was at the dealer. Unfortunatly the ten day forcast here in Portland call for rain every day. I'm ready to drive this car. Thanks for the book recommendations Miltonian, and I used the link by No Doubt before I made the purchase. Thanks again!

Your 348S looks fabulous. Yes, I also utilized No Doubts link in my attempt to purchase a 348 Spider. (currently pending) It's a great site for all 348 owners. Thank you.
