    The SS has no badging on rear deck unless also a challenge car. The only badge is on the dash at the stereo cover. Seats were an option that many preffered not to have and splitters break constantly (wanna know how I know?). Also, 94 model years were done in Maranello as opposed to here in the US. Not sure if they got ALL the SS treatments. I also noticed that the rear wheels to not appear to fill the wells like the US models do. Thats why I asked for a S/N. The S/N is correct for car 5 of 15. FYI...This car used to be owned by a FChatter from Arkansas.

    A freind and I are considering fabrication of some urethane splitters to replace these on any and all 348's. The presently available ones are incredibly expensive. Carbon fiber is a maybe right now because they will break just like these do when scrapped. Awefully expensive for a throw away.

    If you end up producing the urethane splitters let me know. I would buy one in 2 seconds from you. It is difficult to justify spending the kind of money on them right now when I foresee me banging it off sooner than later....

    They bolt right up (Challenge wheels) and really make a big difference in looks and handling.

    As to suggestions for a change of rims... I quite like the original 348 wheels, but if you are going to change then these look very cool - and should give you more tire contact with the road! :cool:

    Ah yes..good point, forgot about that. The SS has a wider stance due to an extra thickness in wheel hub acting as a permanent spacer. The extra hub thickness in the SS wheel was corrected with an extremely long wheel bolt (80mm shank). I needed new bolts as will everyone changing out SS wheels. Purchased 14mm x 1.50 pitch x 40mm shank at ezaccessory dot com. Check your new wheels to verify Conical or ball seats.

    I just reviewed my transaction and want to be WAY more clear. We don't need anyone buying stuff based on my measurements without double checking. I purchased 40mm shanks for the front because I needed a bit more for the spacers I used and 30mm shanks for the rear where no spacers were necessary.

    The basis of my calculations were as follows:

    1) thread engagement should be close to the diameter of the bolt but not less than 70% of its diameter. Bolt diameter is 14mm

    2) brake disc lug threads are counter sunk approximately 7mm

    3) Spacer thickness if used (I had 10mm front and 0mm rear)

    4) wheel hub thickness to root of conical (or ball) angle was 7mm

    So rear wheel bolt length necessary for me was 14 + 7 + 7 = 28mm...used 30mm
    front wheel was 14 + 7 + 10 + 7 = 38mm...used 40mm

    The variable in this calc is the wheel hub thickness which may or may not be differant on each wheel type. Check with your manufacturer or measure it yourself.

    what brand of tires and sizes do you recommend for spring, summer, fall driving.

    Did the 15 SS in 1994 not have the front lower chin spoiler? If they didn't have it originally, OK. But, if they did; then it would be a requirement of the new owner to replace it. Speedline 355 Challenge wheels are the ticket (with rear spacers). This is an informed opinion.

    I'm not sure...I've seen 2 and I don't think either had it. I suppose you could check for a previous fitment by inspecting the underside of the airdam. The splitter was attached with something like 20 Rivets. If there was one there, you would see the empty (used) rivet holes. If it was never installed, I doubt any holes would be there.

    I too would be interested! Just pushing my car (somewhat lighter than the avg 348 since there is no interior) and mine scraped on the parking lot where the was a slight grade change!

    Series II cars lack the CF seats and the chin spoiler on all cars I have seen, which is like 2. You have the gearing, the wheels and the single can exhaust, but then so does the 348 Spider in 1994 and 1995. The only real difference I can see between the Spider and the non-SS 1994 coupes versus the 1994 348 SS is the cosmetics with the rear lights. It's still an SS, but it's less of a modification between it and the standard 348s in that year than say in 1992 when they first appeared. Actually, now that I think about it, I can't remember ever seeing a US 348 that was not a Spider, Challenge or SS for the 1994 model year. Of course, the Euros were having fun with their GTB and GTS cars and that great Competizione, aka the Euro SS.
