Awesome, pictures of the car and any background info on the car would be nice. ... And welcome to F chat
Nice pick up Gene!.I saw that one listed on Ebay and it Looks like a nice car at a great price!!.Enjoy it!!!
I found pictures of the car at the link below: Vehicle Image Beautiful colour. I don't think I've ever seen it before on a 355.
Beautiful color, welcome and enjoy! In addition to posting photos here, you can also do so on the 355 Ferrari registry at Ferrari 355 Registry - Home Page. You car is there, but no photos or history.
My husband and I went and looked at that one while on vacation in Florida. I don't have the means to buy one yet, but I wanted to see what NART blue looked like in person. I approve!! Since we weren't serious, we didn't do anything but look at the exterior, but it looked very well-kept. The proprietor of the establishment where it was located seemed like a stand-up guy as well.
Congrats! A really neat color - I don't think I've seen it on any Ferrari, other than a NART car racing at Sebring back in the 60s maybe. If I remember correctly, the 250 GTO raced for the first time at Sebring in 1962, and it was blue, but a lighter shade. Enjoy your 355. I've had mine for 5 years and I don't like it. I love it!!
Gene - I'm envious. Blue on the spiders is fantastic. That's why Ferrari's spider show car in their official brochures and posters was blue. Enjoy your car and please post photos regularly. Robb.
Well the car was delivered on Wednesday. It was pouring rain so the truck driver drove it out of the trailer and into the garage. He set the hand brake. It hasn't been good weather so I spent the last few days cleaning, clay baring polishing and waxing. Then on to the interior cleaning, vacuuming and treating the leather. Last night I went to start it and it just clicked. Hooked up a battery tender to it and waiting for it to charge. When I went to release the parking brake it is just limp and doesn't release. Seems like the handle is not even connected. Hope some of you might have some answers for me. Thanks in advance.
Gene. Sorry you aren't out enjoying your new car. Regarding the handbrake... Pull up on the handle until there's tension. Press and hold the button while pushing the handle back down. That should do the trick.
Yes - it sounds like the brake is operating normally- do the procedure above. It is designed this way so you can put the brake on and push the handle down and out of the way. My old c4 corvette was the same, and other cars with the left brake (928 Porsche, etc)
Hey guys. Thanks for the tip on the hand brake. To start it I found out you have to disarm the alarm. So the brake is off and I start the engine. Pull out of th garage and the accelerator has no control of the engine and it just races. So I turned it off and with the help of a few neighbors we push it back into the garage. Any help on what I should look for on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Gene
Sounds like you need to have an expert 355 owner to explain the car to you, did you do a PPI prior to buying the car? sounds like your car has issues.
Well a shot of WD40 in the right places works wonders. Probably got some dirt or carpet fuzz back ther when I shampooed the carpets and matts. Everything is fine now just got back from my first drive. I will definitely hook up with a few Ferrari owners in Jacksonville. Thanks again for the help.
Good luck with the car Gene. Have you tried to operate the top yet? (Hint, read the manual first. Then say a prayer.)
Meh. Just help that first bar back a bit if necessary. No biggie... despite the worry warts on the forum.
put some 2 sided tape under your floor mat It will stop it sliding forward and interfering with the gas pedal
Yep, never had a problem with mine, but it's important to know the procedure before pushing the damn button.
I bought the lloyd's floor mats Ricambi sells- very reasonably priced AND has the grommet holes to hold the mats in place. Probably the best dollar for utility item I bought for my 355 (Daniel from Ricambi recommended the $85 Ultimats- they match the interior very well, no need for the $150 mats on there). The mats are great! I too had a sticky throttle when my car arrived from a cross-country ship- it was very cold out side which may have contributed, and also the car wasn't used much in the prior 12 months...the car was driven a little just prior to purchase for a PPI etc, but yet after sitting on the truck for another week or so the throttle stuck open (specifically after I pushed the gas pedal all the way down). I shot the bottom of the gas pedal with Wurth HHS 2000 spray (better than WD40 for long term lubrication, but if WD 40 did the trick good enough) which got the pedal action nice and smooth. Once I got the car to my mechanic he may have lubed up other areas of the throttle linkage further back in the engine bay, but with now "regular" use (i.e. good weather weekends, when I have time etc..but the car isn't sitting for months on end like it did for the year prior to my purchase) the throttle is perfect. Not jerky on initial tip in as some people experience with 355s-maybe if their linkages aren't properly set/lubricated? The pedal does need to physically move 8 throttle bodies vs. drive by wire throttles of modern cars...one of the mechanical things I love about the 355!
