I am planning on becoming a 1st time Ferrari owner. Have drive F430 F1, but am in LOVE with the CS (but yet to drive one!) and plan to buy it soon. Any known things to look for, problems, maintance issues, or advice before making the purchase?

Regardless of which car you buy it is worth it to get a PPI. With these cars they can hook up a computer and give you a full readout of just about everything (clutch wear, brakes, engine info, etc.)

Additionally, some experience a problem with a front end knock or creeking I believe caused by a bushing problem, so listen for that. I have only driven 2 CS's but I would say drive at minimum two. The two cars were totally different. One felt alot faster, firmer and 'newer' than the other (one had 6K miles, the other had no miles), fwiw.

Good luck, it is a great car.

I would say that you should hang around the forum a lot and try to pick things up.

Good luck on the beautiful car!

Front end knocking can be cured by changing the front shock pins to 430 style. As a temporary (and less costly) solution - teflon or other type of high quality grease on the stock CS pins will remove the noise.

FWIW - if the car is still under factory warranty, an additional power cube (engine and drivetrain) or bumper to bumper warranty may still be available. A Ferrari dealer will do a full inspection to qualify for the warranty. My bumper to bumper warranty cost was $6500; could be lower from other dealers. Power cube warranty is a less (can't remember how much though). The good news is that if a factory warranty is extended, it can be continued on an periodic basis up to another 7 years. Costly, but provides some sort of piece of mind for nervous nellies like myself. If the car's original warranty is expired, not sure if the Ferrari warranty can be extended. Check with your Ferrari dealer.

I agree with Thusly, except the Power Cube is the HIGHEST form of bumper to bumper warranty, hence the name cubed. The power warranty just covers engine and drivetrain.

i have two stradales, and each of them has a little over 13,000 miles. they both run great. everything is tight. no squeaks, rattles, etc. i take very good care of these cars. i did have the infamous "front suspension creaking/clunking" noise on both cars until the ferrari dealer replaced the suspension bolts with F430 suspension bolts. i'm keeping my fingers crossed, but so far the noise has not returned.

just a quick comment about mileage. i drive my cars aggressively, but i don't abuse them. i can't imagine how they could run any better. i have a friend who bought a new stradale three years ago, and he only has 2000 miles on it today. i personally would be a bit concenred about buying a three year old car with only 2000 miles. it just can't be good to let a car sit for long periods with minimal driving.

good luck finding a stradale. you will not regret it :)

I echo everybody's sentiments. My CS is my first ferrari also. There is nothing like it. It's reliable if you drive it so don't let it become a garage queen :)
