New to board and new owner. Just bought a 2001 360 Spider (F1, blue with tan interior, 9k miles). I have been reading this board for a couple of weeks and everyone seems to be pretty serious about these cars. Any advice you guys have to a new owner of a 360? One issue that I have is that I live in an area that is not close to a Ferrari service center. Love to drive it to PHX, but of course puts miles on a close to higher (?) miles 360. Still, can't wait to take it through the mountains into Payson and down to PHX.

Congrats for your new toy :) Post some pictures.

Depends on service history of the car, i would change all fluids, check brakes and also timing belt (where and if was replaced). And of course some exhaust upgrade ;)

congrats, and welcome to the obsession.
My advice is to drive the car frequently. It makes it much easier to pay any unexpected bills. Mine has been bullet proof so far.

Great cars. I have put almost 10,000 miles on mine since I bought it a couple of years ago (with 7600 miles on it) and haven't had any problems.

I always tell new owners that the 3 most important things to remember about the car is:

    1. it's low
    2. it's low
    3. it's low

You have to even be careful about what seem to be otherwise mild dips in the road, especially if you are approaching them with any rate of speed whatsoever. It's pretty easy to bottom the car out in the rear if you aren't careful. If you are approaching or exiting a drive way, it's usually a good idea to hit it from a 45 degree angle if you can.

The F1 cars tend to have more "strange" problems than the 6 speed manuals from what I have seen (based on posts on ferrarichat over the years). One of them relates to slipping the clutch when on a mild incline. If you find yourself stopped at a RR crossing or stop light for an extended period of time, you might consider putting the car into neutral or park. There are also issues when backing up drive ways that are steep from what I understand, although I'm not an expert (a few searches on here should fill you in though).

Enjoy the car! Let's see some photos.

I look forward to seeing pics. The only advice I have is drive the car. It was created for someone to drive. Be that person and don't save it for the next owner.
