Hi all, I am in the process of acquiring an f430 f1. This is my third ferrari so I am not new to the brand, coming from the 355. The upgrade in power is sure nice and you can feel it in the rev range, but I do miss the overall shrieking exhaust noise of the 355.

I have searched the forums and have seen various exhaust systems discussed, but I was wondering if anybody has real world experience with what brings the highest pitched sound.

My previous ferrari's sounded amazing with the challenge exhaust and even the factory units. With the 430, it doesn't seem to share a remotely similar pitch. Does upgrading the cats to high flow or changing the headers alter the pitch in anyway to help bring the tone up? I am not necessarily interested in making this car drone or become super loud as much as sound quality. I know the motor is bigger so it won't sound the same as a 355, but I do appreciate some input.

    Thanks.

P.S I drove the 458 which sounds insane, but it is way out of the price range at this time!

Congrats! We all always want details and pics on this board.:) Welcome!!

You might check out youtube. There are plenty of 430 exhaust combinations for you to listen to. Like color, it's a personal choice on what you think sounds good. You also might investigate steve basel's remote exhaust controller (forza componenti). I have found the OEM exhaust perfect, especially with the valves fully open. And quiet in the neighborhood.

I'd suggest having the vac lines dissconnected and driving it a day or two and see what you think.

FCA-DFW website has a Pre-Owned Capristo Race Muffler for sale I think too , if you wanted to go that route

As you know, the higher the displacement of the engine the lower the tone of the exhaust note. A new system could help a bit. Lots of threads on it.

I went from a 355 w/ Tubi to a 430, took a little bit of getting used to the new sound.

I trod your exact road three years ago. 355 after market to 430. My answer = Capristo racing
