458 NEW 458 Infotaiment system (upgrade)

It's not clear from the information, does this replace the original head unit, or you still keep that in the car?

Very much wanting to do this upgrade!

Also, anyone know what the power is on the usb? Would be amazing if it's at least 1amp.

Hi. You keep the original head unit. This is in addition to it and splices in to the wiring. I have no idea if the usb power sorry.

 

I just ordered the kit, and can see what the usb is rated at!

Mine just arrived. No instructions or documentation in the box. Just the main FRI CarPlay unit and a smaller module plus the multiple harnesses. No voltage or amperage rating labels on the ports. I guess the YouTube video is all we get for instructions. I'll post an update when complete. Im starting the process now.

 

I've just finished installing mine - unfortunately, I am getting noise and glitches on the screen. But I can hear carplay sounds. So likely, something with the video cable

 

Maybe just a loose connection

 

Hmm, that looks strange. You can shoot an e-mail to the manufacturer of the system to [email protected]

They are very supportive, and I usually had an answer the next day.
