I'm told that private viewings may start as early as June, with an official launch in September.

The Scuderia version of the 430 and the Challenge Stradale version of the 360, are the more dynamic and track focused versions. They are lighter, stiffer and more powerful than the standard car. As a result they are more rewarding and raw to drive.

The Stradale/Scuderia version of the 458 should be an amazing car.

But by Ferrari law, it cannot be quicker than the F70. :)

First thing it will have is every CF option available for the current 458-- interior, exterior, racing seats and engine. Then probably a 30 or more boost in HP. Take out the carpets and radio, go with Plex rear window, add wider tires and different firmer suspension and that pretty much covers it -- along with a new front that looks something like the F70 LaFerrari.

The real question is will it have an option for Kers. That would be pretty darn cool.

Ah no. You forget the disproportionate extra price that is a given as much as everything else you list.

    You sums it up perfectly.

Is pretty hard to be quicker then the +400hp/-300lbs active aero F70 :)

I am just hoping for a bigger mesh challenge grill on the back.

Yes, and there are some rumors out there that the 458 lightweight will be a limited edition, but I don't buy it! Why would Ferrari want to limit a car to say 1500 examples when they can probably sell about 4500 of them?

And if you believe my theory, the Scud version of the 458 will need to carry the 458 series forward for a longer time before the 458 replacement appears with KERS. It will then need to have a higher buyer "bandwidth" than the Scud or CS did, and they will make more of them.

    I'm just sayin'.

I am with you guys, Ferrari will make as many as they can sell. They are in the business to sell new cars, resale value down the road is not a high concern.

Even in their exotic line, they are increasing production quantity:

    288 GTO 272
    F40 1315
    F50 349
    Enzo 399
LaFerrari 499 (Because the Chinese got money to spend on cars now, the extra 100 is all going to China. Just kidding, but it might not be that far from the truth)

I agree: sort of like when BMW decided to make the M3 the high end of the 3 series vs. the prior original version that had racing in mind.

I think they will need to bias towards weight savings vs. HP increase with manufacturing constraints, environmental pressure, etc.

It should be at another show as they will be presenting the new California at Frankfurt and I doubt they would have 2 new cars at the same show....

    Great news anyway :D

Another example is the new 991 GT3 is a more civilized and less raw than the 997 version: Weighs more, PDK box, more electronics, rear axle steering... Preuninger actually says so around 16:50 in this video [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECATvlRf3ls]Porsche 991 GT3 inside look - interview with Andreas Preuninger - YouTube[/ame] "a better daily driver."
