Hi all - I just bought a 1995 456 GT in Blu Swaters over tan. I want aesthetically more appropriately sized wheels. I am looking at 19s (missed a set of Nf2s, so doing HRE P107s, I think). The question I have is whether I need to make any special adjustments providing I have the right offsets etc. The dealer was discouraging and said it would affect drivability. Can anyone offer me the downsides of changing to the 19s? The upside (in my view) is MUCH nicer aesthetics.

19's are OK but 20's or larger the sidewalls are so thin every crack in the pavement is like being on safari. Keep in mind, the suspensions of older cars were often tuned knowing that taller sidewalls would be able to dampen out some of the everyday road chatter. Just food for thought.

Lots of 456/456M owners out there with 19s. There will be a slight degradation in ride, made up for by much improved braking and cornering.

The biggest issue is weight. You do NOT want to overload the rear suspension as you will significantly shorten the already fragile rear shock/suspension life.

Otherwise the options are quite long for 18s and 19s.

Target offset for the front between 30-45, rear between 10-20 if your making your own.

Thank you! I was looking at the HREs with OEM caps. I saw the thread about offsets that got quite heated! Any idea how meaningful the weight difference is between these and stock wheels/tires?

Thanks!! Definitely looking at 19s. Seems like the sweet spot. Lost out on some Nf2s so going in with the HRE P107s, I think.
