I just hate to think I waited & hoped along side all you guys but was passed over? It also makes me wonder if any other people who wanted them didn't get any which in turn would have increased the count and helped everyone by making the price-break point? Anyway, maybe I'm jumping the gun. I'll check things out when I get home tonight & try to call John in the morning if need be. Maybe he ran some extras?
I have gone through several different bar combinations on my 77. I have not seen any close up shots of the bars or drop links but the idea will work on what ever you have. One of the saner bars major failings was excessive angularity of the drop link and the use of spacers of questionable strength. This high angularity would cause the link to bind, so it is important, (no matter which bar you use) to first get the bar centered, so that the drop link angularity is the same of both sides. When you fit up the bar, I would suggest that you lube the interior of the bar mounting bushing, (hopefully the manufacturer included some with the kit). Leave the bar to chassis mounting bolts a bit on the loose side, so that you can move the bar fore or aft to get the most vertical drop link positioning, then torque down the mounts. This fore/aft positioning may need to change, (to avoid drop link binding, or to achieve a more vertical orientation). Occasionally, you will find the link angularity excessive and binding. If this is due to the inward or outward tilt of the link, you can, often, correct this misalignment with a spacer, (washer, nut or sturdy bit of tube) to get it more upright. This may require a longer bolt and if so, I would recommend a 10.9+ allen of the correct length. You may also find "safety washers" helpful in providing a bit more angular tolerance. These are available from Pegasus: https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=3068 or any number of racing suppliers. Here is a photo of their use while I was figuring out the needed offset for one of the original saner bars. HTH, chris Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
No deduction on my credit card either. I called and committed the morning after Doug said they actually worked as promised.
With all these wait I hope they did the correction right and will not give you guys any issue as far as fitment.
Yeah..... I hope it works out for everyone. It sounds like Addco uses the same customer service department that Stebro uses.......
OKAY, did speak to John today. The short version bottom line is that not all the bars have shipped yet(such as mine ships Mon.). He also had a list of about 4 people or so who's card had expired & he will call them to rectify the situation. Anyway, I'm sure all will be worked out eventually.
I received the rear bar only today. My card appeared to be charged for the rear only. I ordered front and rear....anyone else?
Looks like the same for me, both with the bar and the card. --Woody BTW, I will NOT be installing the one bar until the other arrives. A larger rear bar with a stock front bar has a tendency to make a car tail-happy (oversteer). I'm not sure if that is any more or less true on a mid-engine car, but I won't be experimenting with half the set.
I guess that is the answer then but not what John explained to me. All the rear bars shipped out but the fronts weren't ready yet? I only ordered a front bar & that explains why nothing for me yet on a cc charge or receiving a bar. John did say the guy that works in production just sets them out there as he gets them done. Maybe even someone else does the shipping, billing, etc.? It almost appears like no one there knows the entire story to relate to us. Pretty funny laid back way of doing business if true.
I assume for all this frustration there isn't any other option? Hard to believe there is no other game in town. Is this true?
Mine was one of those cards that had expired since I spoke with them in November. I called him a couple of days ago and provided the new card info. I was afraid that if I didn't, nothing would happen at all. --Woody
Oh man... I just left a VM for John to try and gain clarity on what's going on. Will report back if/when I find anything. Matt
Thanks Matt, much appreciated! I'm surprised Addco would even ship half of a matched set, it just doesn't make sense. --Woody
I know that a lot of people have dropped out of the group buy because of the all of the uncertainty. If this gets sorted and the bars are made correctly and start shipping, I will buy a set to keep the numbers up. And I don't even own a 308 at the moment!
Still no charge for me yet. Just curious, for those who know, what did the final prices end up being?
Full Price. Too many people sitting on the sidelines for us to have gotten the discount. My charge for half of the set was about $231, if memory serves. --Woody
