Bars are in, just got them today. What Ive run into is firstly they sent fine thread nuts and coarse thread bolts for the links. Its like they just grabbed fasteners and tossed them in the bag because the other bar has a different combination and quantity of fasteners. Rear bar should be shorter so I dont need spacers to keep the links vertical. Front bar hits the coil springs on both sides. Not sure I can make this bar work. I believe if I flip it over Ill have other issues that offer other compromises if it even fits. Not sure what to do here. The way the bar is bent now, it clears the inner tie rods if I flip it im sure it'll contact the inners. The bars seem universal or generic rather than model specific. Tried the bar upside down, won't work on the angle it produces. Rounded the flat cut ends, still won't clear the springs. If I cut the end off taking away the soft setting it'll fit but we lose the adjustability. If its too tight in the front we can't soften it up.
Hold on. So Doug says that the bars were two inches too narrow and Paul says they are too wide (let me guess, by two inches?). Am I the only one who is like WTF?
Thanks Newman. I only see two holes in the end of that front bar, has Addco already eliminated one of the three planned adjustment points? Currently I have only received a rear bar, which sits at my house unopened. It is disturbing to think that when I have received a set, that it may not fit and/or may not be as adjustable as promised. --Woody
What are the outside widths of your bars, at the flat mounting flanges? Front and rear. The flanges may have to be somewhat above where you have the flange in ralation to the spring, so as to clear, making the heim joints at full extension, perhaps even needing an extension on the Heim, that aprt I wasn't sure about. Looking at teh front pic, I seems like your Heims wouldn't be close to vertical either, i wonder if they made these bars off the second set,a nd didn't incorate my chnages. Doug
Just left a VM for John. In my VM for John, I explained the situation with the front bar, told him I needed to speak ASAP about the way to remedy this design flaw, or that each of us needed to return our bars. I'll post as soon as I hear back from him. If we don't hear back from him, the good news is that these purchases are on our credit cards, so we're protected from issues such as these. I suspect that we're all at the point of deal fatigue - at least I am. The problem is, there's really no other options, and I really want the experience that Doug described when placing the correctly designed cars in his car. I should be frustrated, but instead find myself disappointed or simply sad
On your rear bar, do me a favor and move it to one side so the heim joint is vertical, does the bar hit the lower control arm when placed like that? One of my suggestions was to shorten each rear bar leg by about 3/8" (also moving the mounting holes 3/8" closer to the main bar traverse). The original (first) rear bar was too short and hit the control arms, necessitating it be wider. My Heims on the rear have a 1/4" steel spacer between each heim and the inside of the bar flange, and still have an angle to the outside, so as to clear the control arm. Narrowing the rear bar causes control arm clearance problems. My front bar i have on now (second bar) is 40" outside to outside,a nd needed to be 42.2-42.5" outside to get rid of the spacers I had to make in front to make the Heims clear the control arm. That width "should" allow you to clear stock springs, maybe with longer Heims to get teh flanges up over teh lower part of the spring. I have QA1 springs, and used a card board tube to try and figure out where the stock springs would locate. I also suggested shortening each front bar leg for coil clearance. My understanding was the front production bars would get three holes back, as my second bar only had two holes and I couldn't use the softest position unless the bar was widened and each leg shortened. All this was balanced against being able to run wider than stock wheels and tires up front. Doug
Didnt measure the bars and its Friday 5:30 here, let the weekend begin! Addco said I can modify the front bar eliminating the soft setting to see if it fits. They said they have our backs and want to know how to solve the problem.
My rear bar is 44 3/8" outside to outside, I have a 1/4" steel spacer between the heim and bar and each heim is angled out about 1/4" from vertical, well within limits. This is necessary to clear the control arm with both the heim joint, and bar ends. Only mod on the rear is the suggested shortening of each leg by about 3/8". Not sure if they did that. Shortening the bar ends would also allow narrowing the bar by 1/2", but again, shortening the legs increases the roll resistance. Doug
Looking at pic #3 and 4, discounting the spring, can you even connect a heim joint to the front bar without a long spacer? I needed to make 5/8" or 3/4" spacers to get the heim to clear the control arms, thus my suggestion to widen the bar by 2.5", If memeory serves me correctly, this would make the heims mount to the inside of the front bar flanges. If I cut the soft setting portion off the bar (no heat applied) AND I use spacers I can probably/maybe run the front bar but have no adjustability. Addco says go ahead and mod it so they know what we need to do. Rear bar should be shorter by maybe 1.5".
My original 3.9" shorter rear bar hit the control arms, and were totally uninstallable. edited for correct length You want to look at making that suggestion VERY CAREFULLY. Doug
I have no adjustability now on my front bars and can only use the hardest setting, WITH spacers. Measure your front bar width. Get back to me. Doug

Here is my 44.37" wide rear bar. It fits very well. If I was to order this bar again, i would order it at 43.75" wide, this would eliminate the spacers and leave the heims vertical. I left the heims inside the bar, so as to guaratee that the bar would not hit the control arms. You can probalby narrow the bar another 1", to make the heims mount on the outside of the bar, and still not hit the control arms, you have to be repsonsible for that.
