Just got a brochure on the new Alfa 159 last week, had a little flick through and was delighted to see an Italian car with some real torque for about £20k. After seeing it at Goodwood I thought I’d like to see what a 3.2 V6 family saloon drove like, the styling is slick and after sitting in it at Goodwood I found acres of space inside despite it looking so much smaller on the outside, a new dash has been put in, I especially like the way it wrapped around the driver, quite like a pilots cockpit.

Can't wait to test drive one in December. Has anyone else seen it yet?

The Swiss Alfa dealers STILL have not recieved neither documentation nor vehicles. I am waiting for the Brera though.

I have only seen it on the net and read many reviews. The 3.2 V6 and 2.4JTD are the best offerings with AWD, making them a lil heavy though. The car has been praised for its handling, fluidity, drivetrain, comfort and quality, things not usually associated to an alfa in one sentence. Ive heard but cannot confirm that the 159 will be offered with free servicing. Check it out with your dealers. I do know that Alfa UK is going through a major overhaul to correct their poor reputation and bad dealers.

Either way the 159 seems to be a winner, excelling in areas where the 156 fell short.

Interior quality and driving dynamics for the GTA are what i read .

The 159 dash is ugly looking IMO and the V6 is no longer Alfa made..and 1650 kgs !

cramped cabin, rough ride, build quality, electrical glitches etc......nothing really serious but issues that wouldnt make it a class leader.

Intersting the last one I rented in Italy had plenty of space, and I am 6ft and not a small guy. It did have a "sports car" ride but I would not have wanted a "duck waddle aka Lexus" ride.

As far glitches from a two week rental, I would simply not know. It did run great with the JTD engine, great mileage and 240K without being pushed all the way to the floor.

Its definately a great car, dont get me wrong. The comment for space is more about the back legroom and headroom. The ride is typical alfa, i like that too but i guess some people didnt.

overall it was a great leap forward, but the 159 brings it to a new level.

That's just normal in this "class"
Look at a Audi A4, same space in the back, maybe even less.
If you want more space you'll have to buy a bigger car.

    166!! ;)

Saw the 159 driving several times last week in Italy.
I am not impressed. At a hotel in Milan there was a silver one next to a 156.
Ofcorse the headligts and mirrors are different but it is really not a complete new car. Especially people who aren't really into alfa's will not see the diffenrence...............Sorry, it looked dissapointed to me.
