    Ive seen the pictures.

    With the 260 bhp 3.2 V6 Q4 version (awd!!)

This car looks the part its got the sweet alfa v6 that is going to sound sexual with an aftermarket exhaust system.

its got the balls its got the driveline it looks awsome.
And like all alfas im sure when it is released it will drive awsome.
Alfa Romeo style centre and Pininfarina designed.

My thoughts are this is a great improvment over the looks and specs of the old model. and its got a new drivline to boot! Striking car and very romantic like it should be, I much pefer this over the quad lighted old model, that i thought was a bit too small and too "Cafe" although i had a soft spot for it!

But this car just raises the bar i meen, its stunning.
260hp on tap this thing should kill off the miata on a track and streightline speed too!

The miata May always have a cult following. but its just not up to par with this new alfa spyder in my books.

My verdict is: I love it 9.3 out of 10! i would have liked them to make it rear wheel drive and the rear is a little too short and high in my opinion.

(this is just from seeing it in pictures and reading the specs)

I think this car will have to prove its worth as a drivers car to earn anyones full respect.

Well i dont think its should be named Spider . Its too fat and AWD . Its a nice car but no Spider .

And from what i have read about the Brera , it wont be a drivers car . Dull to drive and souless engine .

That car is not for me.

I drove a 1983 spider veloce while in college, and I loved that car... So when I saw the title of the post I was excited...

    What a disappointment...

Yeah my uncle has an old spider late 60's early 70's one in red with matching interior and my best friends dad has a 33
Now the 33 may be cheap and it may not be a sexy looking car but when your in it, the thing feels like a real car, its raw and i love the thing even tho most would consider it a sh*tbox :(

Yeah im dissapointed to hear that its dull and soulless!

but id still rather one than a miata!

Btw SDortonF40 i love your car like many others on the forum, drive it and enjoy and im sure you do.

I love the quirky gear knob on the old alfas, awsome cars.

:( just a rebodied berra then?

Edit: also know an older gentleman with a montreal that is stunning, everytime i see it i feel faint!.

Its italian its affordable it has 260BHP in a good daily driver package.

To be honest i still think this is the best car in its class on the market.

I still dont like the new miata. this has italian flair and anyone can own one.

I drove the coupe and was hugely dissapointed, tepid performance and get this modified Opel (2.2) and GM!!! (3.2 V6) engines, NOTHING I repeat NOTHING like the old Alfa V6 from Arese that is being discontinued this year. The interior was of good qulity, but had some ridiculous design; the arm rest was so low that it was bum high and useless to rest your arm and worse, the driving position is VERY high, feels like driving a small SUV, the seat just doesn't go low enough. Even average people will have their head pressed against the window. No Lateral support. RIDICULOUS interior colour choices. Blue and orange? Red and CREAM???!!! No Crema leather???!!! No plain black!!!???

It is hardly affordable. 55000USD for the 3.2 coupe, at least.

I would like to know if the structure is really strong because in the previous model it was terrible shaky and you could how it crack. If there´s going to be a Diesel version like th Brera? Having reading other articles about the Spider I had found that the car dissapoints in many areas, anyone of you have a clue?

what i don't quite understand is, they start out with the beautiful giugiaro designed brera concept, and then the economised production brera coupe (still giugiaro badged), and then transferred over to Pininfarina for the Spider?

i can understand that pinin must have some convertible construction expertise, and that beautiful tonneau cover...
but how can they just took italdesign's work, rework it into a spider, and slap on their own badge??

because pininfarina is one of the best and THE most popular automotive design studios in the world.

They can do it because they are pininfarina

    I just lost my breakfast.

Fiat ownership of Alfa is like seeing the undertaker having sex with your dead wife.

I saw this car at Pebble Beach last year and was not very impressed. It was nice, don't get me wrong, but it just did not exude the sexy character of a true Alfa, I can see why people would compare this car to a Miata on paper but I'll bet the price range between these two cars will be greater than $20k. Not much of a comparison there.

I am sure it is a modern technical package
For me, it does not have the elegance and Alfa-ness of the original. I still so dearly love and remember my 1971 1750 Spider - one of the best cars anyone can own.

The soul is gone, but the corpse is being abused ...

Besides: there are no shrinks on this site. Only crazy people buy Italian sports cars. :p

And a shrink would charge hazard pay to deal with someone who owns both a Ferrari AND and Alfa. :D
