New arrival

My car finally arrived at the dealers today and I collect tomorrow. Got them to send a quick pic of the front as I had that area painted and was keen to see it.

See pics of 458's everyday but there is something special about seeing your own for the first time.

I've driven the 458 a number of times but driving mine will be something else Impressions? Steady as a rock when braking from 175.4mph on the mile straight at millbrook testing grounds in the uk and fantastic on the alpine track but its narrow. Then again my instructor took me on a lap or two and its (and his) abilities are far far away from being tested by me!

Bad weather here in Ireland but that just means it will be almost necessary to keep to the 5600rpm run in limit for the 600 miles I intend to do over the next few days. Then I am off to the Scottish highlands for a few days depending on snow.

I know what you mean with the whisker look. I could only find a couple of pics and a member kindly did a photoshop but I thought I would give it a go. Probably fitting capristo cf whiskers but that won't change the overall look.

Get it Friday hopefully so we will see and I will post pics.

Anybody note the car in the background seen best in second pic? I have a 2001 3200 gta nero/nero as a DD and that is more than likely a 4200 looking at the lights on the trunk in this low res picture. Wheels and shape are the same. I will check as mine is outside.

3.2 twin turbo and a 4 speed auto can be interesting when trying to press on. Bought it for the gf to replace Audi tt but within weeks she was complaining and it became mine. I love it though.

 

Diamond sports wheels. Red hubs here next week so I can swap them around and see what its like.

Left dealer in Belfast at 5pm and drove 125 miles in dark and rain and busy traffic. Forgot the cruise when ordering and although many say it's not correct in a 458 the sensitive throttle means constant adjustments needed to maintain a speed. Sports seats very comfortable for the 2 hour trip. Kept it on lowest setting as I am 6ft.

Love the painted front. Figured if I did not like it I could wrap it but won't be doing that. Will posts pics over the weekend.

I went for titanio after seeing one car in the flesh and the many pictures on this forum. It does change with different light so I will take a couple of pictures a day to let those undecided get an idea. It may of course be raining everyday so they might all look the same!

Bluetooth no prob with iPhone 4s and made 2 calls no problem using voice. I think I made 2 successful calls in 20 months in the Cali so maybe it's been updated.

Menus for nav and radio a bit fiddlly but the motorway in the dark and rain is no place to learn.

Got a cf umberella so that was nice.

91 mile on delivery so over 220 now so I should get it run in before we get better weather.
