    Doody,

Thanks for the response. Checked out the archives. Lots on the Toy Store in NJ. However, a pal of mine (retired fellow from Capital Hill and Ferrari/Car guy) passed along some info today that seems to be spelling the end of the shop in FLA. Am withdrawing my offer on the yellow 308 and will wait another day to buy.

I never knew they had a bad reputation? A few years ago, I traded in a Bourget Motorcycle on a Dodge Viper. The transaction went smoothly and the car was in good shape.

Well the owner a Mr. Anthony made his millions in heavy equipment rentals (cranes). Pretty reputable fellow... but JJ Best Banc and some other Exotic Car lending agencies will not underwrite loans for purchase from this outfit due to issues in the past with titles, VIN numbers, etc. That plus some inside info (will have to shoot you if I give up my sources) left me feeling that it was best to get my car from elsewhere.

Unfortunately after a 3 month search for the right 308 / 328 GTB I came up empty. Selling my BMW 2002tii I needed some real transportation.. fell in love with and bought a 2002 Maserati GT Coupe (all in all a very civilized road car with a splash of exotic and the functionality of being able to haul my 2 little kids on road trips). The 308.. intended for a 288GTO conversion will just have to wait a year or two.

    Ciao,

    JP

I bought a 348 from these guys last year and I too had the same concerns as you do. I had the car sent to Tim Stanford for an independent PPI and it turned out fine. I also used Woodside for the financing and they didnt have any problems with dealing with the Toy Store.

Notice how they just lean the roof to the 308 up against the side of that 355 next to it. that says alots about how they treat their cars there.

+1. a car is a car and a price is a price. Have the car checked out independently and negotiate the price. who cares who you buy it from or if they go out of biz the next day? If you got a good car at a good price?

I saw that car when down there recently. It was on a lift in the repair area. Looked good from where i was standing.

Just get Tim to check it out and make sure they have a clear no lien title.
