The rear isnt that great, I kind of like the look of the current generation 7 series. Over all, the new BMW designs are kind of ugly.
The one on that site (in the gallery) from about 10 years ago looks better than any of the newer ones. Addendum: except the door that doesn't fit. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You have to be kidding me! (BTW Thats more like 20 years go. 10 years ago would be the E38...my favorite by far) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nothing beats E38, especially Alpina blue with 20-inch wheels, the B12 http://www.iamwashmania.com/images/gallery/ALPINA%20B12.jpg Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
they probably will. And does anyone know if that article was talking about the M7? There was some M6 M5 talk going on and the interior of the 7 had the m steering wheel and m smg stuff(might just be a sport package)..
Hasnt BMW been consistently making their cars uglier and uglier the past ~5 years ? I had a 95 7 series, 97 M3, 2000 M roadster and loved them.. I felt I was always going to have a BMW in my garage as my daily driver. A year ago I went to trade in the M3 and as I was walking around the BMW lot something occured to me.. these cars are HIDEOUS. The M3 is the only one thats sort of acceptable but I needed a 4 door. I drove the 5 series and while nice it is ugly as sin. Same with the 7's and then I got a look at the 6 series and well thats when I gave up all hope. So I went to the Benz dealer and got a E55. Not my fav looking car at all but for the $$ I seemd to have very limited options. Lets not even discuss the disaster that is the Z4 thats the new Subaru XT. Flame surfacing my @SS! If it wasnt for the current trend for every two bit hoodlum in the country to buy a 300 Hemi I would get into one of those..I just cant swallow seeing myself on every street corner with 24"s. Sorry for the rant.. its just sad that BMW has lost me and I imagine many many others who wants to buy their cars to a sad design asthetic.
I bought this oldie in Feb last year and despite it having slight issues (being a '96) and all I am pretty impressed with it. First beemer for me but an all around good purchase for a daily rig. Just thought I would share. David Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great buy! I love my 98. Come join us on http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/e38/ it basically the 'ferrarichat' of E38 7 series world. For more performance orientated 7er talk, http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=47 is the place, but don't venture outside the 7 forum too much, lots of kids. Finally if you want to read about others whining and complaining about the 7, go to roadfly.com.
Looks great to me, a huge improvement over the current car, which even after the facelift is still a disaster. Those older ones look, umm... old.
I owned a 98 750IL and sold it not too long ago. Probably the overall best car I've ever owned. Had Big BBS's on it with 295's on it, full 2 1/2'' dual exhaust, air restrictors removed with K&n"s and reprogram. It sounded great and ran like a bat out of hell. Put a 100k on it and never experianced a problem. Great experiance overall. More than I can say for friends who purchased a newer model. Darrell.
