Today I received the newest book by Tony Adriaensens "Weekend Heroes". Seldom before I was as much stunned by color photography from the fifties as this time. It is a incredible collection of photos from the american racing scene of the fifties, the paper quality is great, most photo's were never published before, most are in color and last but not least: packed with Ferrari photographs.
    Just 1000 copies are published.

I had seen this book at Pebble in '07 or '08 and it has been on my wish list, since. I finally ordered a copy and it arrived today. What a fantastic book. I would certainly put it on par with Ferrari in Camera, and there are still copies available from the author. I still regret not purchasing Ferrari in Camera, and I definitely would have regretted not purchasing this.

    Mick,
I don't think your information is current. Their website shows that only three copies of the leatherbound edition are still available and at 2000GBP. Even I have limits.

    George,

Please send Palawan an email and they will confirm my information.

From their brochure: 'to meet the demand for this sought after book, the Publisher is now releasing 32 clothbound copies. A number of copies of the edition bound in 1995 did not meet our quality standard and were destroyed. Book blocks from the original printing have been assigned the limited edition numbers from these copies and have been painstakingly bound by hand in red buckram. This completes the clothbound edition of 1000 copies.'

    Regards,
    Mick

    Mick,
thank you very much for the information. Or, maybe not. Now I need to find a way to justify a book costing over $1,000.

I have this brochure as well, but it's several months since I got it. And it seems, that it's gotten obsolete in the meantime and all those 32 clothbound copies are again sold.

    Best Regards from Germany

According to their latest brochure (december 2011), Palawan still has 20 copies for sale. Anyone interested in this version of the book would be wise to actually contact the publisher instead of making assumptions.

o.k. I agree; I have bought this book back in 1996 for EUR 350,-- when it was brandnew. So why bother.

    Best Regards
