My battery wasn't holding a charge. The PO had a duralast Gold from 3/2009. It's about the size of an interstate 34R. No problems getting out with the front wheel off.

But I bought a Bosch 27F750B as the PepBoys web site recommended. It's about 1.5" wider than the Duralast. It's too tight, I can't slide it in. I called Bosch. This is the battery for the car.

    Anybody have any ideas?

Do you know the part number of the old battery?

This is a '95. I thought maybe a different battery for a 348 instead. Nope, they still say 27F battery. I checked a '97...same thing: 27F. I re-measured the metal tabs on the battery tray - about 11 1/8". The battery is 11 3/4" this puppy isn't going to fit.

Yep. 34-DLG. But it didn't sit flush with the battery tray side tabs either, being smaller. I'm guessing the PO's mechanic just swapped a smaller battery in.

I got a new Interstate 34 last year. Not R. There is enough slack in the cables that you can use a 34.

27f is a big battery. Daytonas and 400's use those. I'd suggest a group 91.

The Group 91 Bosch shows to be 11" long whereas the 34 is shorter so the 91 seems like a good option.

    Maybe I'll do this.
But Wade, at 11", it looks like it would be a VERY tight fit. Have you put one in?
I finally found a place that carries the Interstate MT7-34R,
But I'm no fan of an AGM battery.

Thank you. It was a little funny when I called Bosch & the rep insisted the 27F is the right battery and "Even Ferrari says it'll fit" :)

Clyde, as I said above, the 34 is the same battery as the 34r with the poles reversed. It fits just fine , requiring no mods.

The 34r you have found might be old stock as the DC them over a year ago now. Just a heads up.

Isn't Bosch just Exide? I'll stick with Interstate or Die Hard. Both been very good to me. Just get one that fits and has the required amp hrs. and starting amps.

Well, they say that the AGM batteries are better. ;)

    https://www.pepboys.com/car_care_corner/car_care_basics/maintenance/advantages_of_agm/

The Interstate batteries, from what I've read, aren't as special as they used to be. And so far, I haven't needed to buy a battery for either of my 348s (both with rear-mounted batteries).

For all of my other vehicles, I just stop by Sam's and buy their Duracells. Except Optimas, all name brand batteries are pretty much the same. Like John says, "Just get one that fits and has the required amp hrs. and starting amps."

As a FYI, my Canadian '92 tb came with a 30 month Magnacharge 78DT-925.

Again (as I often do), I agree with Dave. I replaced the previous Optima Red that the PO put in (6 years before my owning the car) with a new Optima Red. No problems at all. I keep it on a Ctek tender anytime the car is in the garage and it's going strong after 4 years.

Any battery living in ideal conditions will last that long. No magic there.

Just checked my 16 year old Die Hard in my 308. Been sitting disconnected, unattended since last October. Read 12.3 V, or about 65% charged. Not bad for a totally neglected battery well past its prime.
