Tonight we met with another couple to discuss a possible business association. After our discussion we were talking about our interests and you know the conversation got around to Ferrari. I discovered that our host has a longtime interest in Ferrari and racing. He is a very interesting person.

    1. Has owned 5 Ferrari's over the years.
    2. Street registered a 512LM in California back in the 80's. Inspector thought it was kit car and passed it after being told that the muffler had a hole in it and it "might be loud" and that he was getting the "leak fixed tomorrow".
    3. Owned one of the Straman Daytona convertibles and is still friends today.
    4. Raced the CanAm series with Ocean Pacific sponsorship.
    5. Set the open ocean speed record of 124 mph in his class. Was running two Keith Black built 500 cubic inch Supercharged engines producing 1350 hp each on gas...
    6. Takes his current car to MSR every once in a while. It is a LM2 Cosworth, yellow with X Treme lettering. Said he took it to TMS a while back and ran 4 laps at 170 mph with a 275hp, 2 liter. It only weighs 1100 lbs so the weight/hp ratio is pretty good... Races both SCCA and IMSA with it but is very choosy to where he races as he says he just does it now for fun and relaxation.....

It is really amazing who you can meet in the metroplex and not know who they are. BTW, he is not a household name so most of you would not know who he is unless you had him design a very large home for you..........

I look forward to getting to know him much better. He seems like a really cool guy......

Unfortunately in a way, the people that have done the coolest and most spectacular things, you never find out. Those type of people are so unassuming and like to tell, but only if asked, but how do you know to ask.

Yup... Remember the article i did on Charles Nearburg? you would never know that he has raced at Le Man's, raced the Baja 1000 and done half a season of CART among other things. One of the coolest guys i have ever met. It really is the ones you have to seek out the story from that are worth the effort. Usually if someone parks their IDEA on me it can be good but you have to reach around a lot of stories to get a story.
