Hi all- just purchased a 2016 Cali T here in the UK and am soooo excited to join the Ferrari club! Collection is in about 10 days so it’s a long wait!
I just wanted to ask a couple of things- the car has the “premium” audio- what is this and is it any good?
Also, has CarPlay - assume given age of car and tech this is wired? Where is usb port located? Wherever the port is, is the cubby big enough to hold a modern 16 plus smartphone?
Daft questions I know, but never even sat in one Thanks all!

The premium system is decent, not that music is my first choice when driving!

Yes, the CarPlay (I have a UK 2016) is wired, with the USB port in centre console. Plenty of room for a phone in there. I did try some wireless adapters (which I’ve used before in other cars) but couldn’t get to work; which many thought was due to the age.

The JBL system is barely adequate. Don't expect anything special (The standard radios are downright garbage). The soundtrack comes from the exhaust anyway, and that's why the first thing to buy for any Cali T owner needs to be the HS exhaust. I'm not sure what the UK availability is, here you can find them on eBay every now and then for under 1 FU (Ferrari Unit, $1k).

The Carplay port is located inside the center console storage bin. It has the Carplay logo on it.

I've never used Carplay and the stereo is almost never used. Your style may vary, but you have a good chance of reduced interest in the electronics compared to other cars. Cheers.

Thanks for your replies- agree, the stereo almost never gets used as the point is the V8, but here in the uk we spend more time with the roof up and like a decent system for my music! Any other good hints / tips I should be aware of as a first time owner?

The CarPlay module is an add on to the Chrysler Pacifica radio it comes with and leads to….interesting issues when it decides to be dumb. There were days I had no radio at all, no screen but audio, and days where it worked fine. In hindsight, I would have just replaced it all with a nice Alpine or Kenwood unit.

Truly felt I rolled the dice when I traded the car in for another car. It glitched out on the way to the dealer, then worked flawlessly during the appraisal.

The jbl system is a must as an used car option it sound good the higher you turn the volume low sound is t that good
Get a car link kit from eBay then you can keep you phone in your pocket it will connect to the kit and apple car play will then just load up the kit stays plugged in the port and phone is Bluetooth to the kit and appears on the car screen a great bit of kit for £33 from eBay
One tip keep it always on charge make it an habit

Thanks for the advice! Can I ask, my DB11 had a magnetic trickle point on the rear bumper, is the Cali T the same? Or is it 12v boot socket?

is the brand car link for the wireless CarPlay? Thank you!

Yes, the trickle point on the Cali T is magnetic which is a nice convenience.

Speaking of Carplay, I have a iPhone 15 Pro and it doesn't activate when I plug it into the port, only charges. Weird.

Which one have you had success with? I created a thread on this, as I haven't been able to get one to work; due to the age of the system.

    1. Enjoy driving the car.
    2. Use the battery maintainer without fail. Put it on within 24 hours of car cooling down. Ferrari recommend no longer than 72 hours without being driven or charging.
    3. Put the top up and down once a week. I put mine up on level ground since the top is heavy and I don't want to put undue lateral forces on the lift mechanisms. I keep my top down most of the time (Southern California). Listen for change in hydraulic pump sound (which might indicate fluid leakage), these cars are about a decade old now and parts may begin wearing out.
    4. Rear seats are principally for looks and insurance rate reduction? Read the owner manual why and don't catch someone's legs in the auto-return seat movement.
    5. Expect sticky buttons, this was common for many soft bits in that era, not just on cars. Costs a few thousand to update.
    6. Other than stickies, my 25,000 mile car has had no mechanical issues outside normal maintenance at the yearly service, battery, tire, wiper blade replacement.
    7. Read threads here for other experiences, remember that problems reported are vastly outnumbered by unreported trouble-free usage.
    8. Remember the car is a decade-old vintage, don't expect new car maintenance levels.

^ agreed with that post. One caveat, when you cycle the top make sure the engine is running. All the pumps and such can drain the battery quick if the car isn't idling.

I picked mine up 3 weeks ago. Can't add much to the points already made, CarPlay seems to work when it wants to. I have the HS exhaust and it certainly makes a good noise. Enjoy
