I just got the new Car Magazine from a friend, and they run down the top ten Ferraris. My favorite quote "Next to a Dino, a Daytona felt like a truck." Some great pix, and a seemingly very attractive RHD '72 GT for sale at 70,000 pounds -- $140k.

    Definitely worth buying.

Is that the British magazine? I'll have to check the local B&N...

I'll check it out online. Must be the June issue. B&N had May, but I couldn't find a Ferrari article.

The June issue is easy to spot....It has the ugliest and the most beautiful Ferraris ever built on the cover (donning flame retardent suit).

Just picked up a copy from Border's. Writer Gavin Green lists the "six finest cars in the 60-year history of Ferrari" as follows:
    250 GTO
    275GTB/4
    246GT Dino
    288GTO
    F40
    Enzo

Admittedly, the Dino write up is a little thin, but he notably observes "More than any other Ferrari, you wear a Dino. It's Ferrari's Lotus Elise." The photos are great, with a stunning silver/black 246GT featured.

A local Elise owner stated that Lotus Elise Designer, Michael Adams, has owned a Dino for years. Probably more than just an influence...

I think the designer was Julian Thomson. He has a Dino and said in a book on the Elise that the Dino was a major influence, along with the Lancia Stratos (for ferocity) and of course the Lotus Elan and 23. Among the many styling cues from the Dino are the air scoops on the side. If you drive an early Elise (Series 1), the view from the cockpit will remind you of the Dino.

I disagree, the Elise is a "grunt" car. Now, if the reference was to the Elite Series I, then I'd be inclined to agree.

The July issue of EVO has a long article about Dino himself including a drive of a 246 GT. Its a nice article with some interviews, a visit to the Ferrari family grave. I subscribe, but its worth picking up, much more about the Dino than the Car article discussed here.
