Well after about 6 months of going back and forth trying to decide if I wanted to sell My Lemans Convertible I have went and done it. And tonight I will be picking up my new (at least new to me) Lotus Esprit. It is an 88 1 owner car that has been cared for by the local Lotus club it entire life. I don't know how I'm going to make it through the day!!! I have meetings all day (oh yeah I will be in the right frame of mind for that).

Thanks. It was a tough choice between the two. Convertibles are nice but require sunny days to be out and about. It didn't help matters that I test drove this car from a local Lotus club member last Nov (he didn't have it advertised) and had to wait until the spring to put my car up for sale so I could buy his. He has a good collection of cars and just wasn't driving the Esprit as much as he would have liked to.

I will have more picture after I get it home tonight. I have always loved them also. It wasn't until last fall driving with my wife that we saw one and she made a comment "I like that" and the search was on.

Thanks for all of the good wishes. It should be a great car I will be the 2nd owner of it and I'm actually the 2nd person to ever drive it besides the original owner (that and 25 cents will get me a phone call)

How loud is it in the interior?

It is a Turbo that is upgraded to SE specs via Lotus themselves. The interior is actually quite calm compared to the Aniversary edition with the blue suede

Oooooooooh, good. Very, very good. You got yourself a proper upgrade.

BTW, by "loud" I meant decibels. ;)

    Congrats Pat.

What are the specs on a 'turbo' like that? Is it a turbo 4-cyl?

Nevermind, found this: This was the year of the first Peter Stevens Esprit. It was the year the name was flipped from Turbo Esprit to Esprit Turbo. The 1988MY was essentially re-skinned 1987 Turbo Esprit. Its engine had a Bosch fuel injection system and the same Citroen gearbox. Engine compression was 8.0:1 and boost was increased to 9.5psi. Output was 215hp, 220ft/lbs torque. 0-60 in 5.1, top speed 146mph.

    Pat,

Congrats man! I LOVE '88 Esprit Turbo's! I think they look even better than the later SE's with the rear spoilers. Very nice choice. I can't wait to see more pics! Enjoy it! :)

    Pat,

Congrats on the car, she is a beauty! :) Enjoy her in good health. If you can, as the time rolls by and the miles are put on the car, share your ownership experience with us. We would kindly appreciate that.

I have always been a fan of the Espirit V8 TT models, and I know Loti (sp?) get a bad rap for reliablity and such.

We would be to glad to listen to some first hand ownership experience from you so that we can learn about them. :)

    Have fun! :)

    -Ryan

It is loud not too loud although I haven't really stepped on it yet. Not quite as loud as my Lemans was but a different sound ( a good sound)
