There are a lot of folks around here who, as yet, have not managed to secure the income necessary to have a Ferrari or other Exotic. Here is the question. If someone was looking for a car under 40k that had to be 1 a daily driver (commuter and weekend use) 2 Sporty (enjoyable) 3 Functional (have those things like a trunk or a passanger seat or two) 4 Available RIGHT NOW in the North American Market 5 Under 40K personal experience advice and pictures always welcome. (ps will do the same later for $40- $60k)
If you can afford to pay $40k for a car, you can afford a ferrari. You could buy a honda accord (or civic) for about $20k (or less), then a 308 GT4 for about 20k. Dom
You are missing the point of the question. NEW car I know a used F car could happen but NEW car only please
If your jsut looking for a commuter vehicle the new chevy Impalas are nice. But ugly as sin. Sporty wise for under $40... thats hard. a 350z but Ive heard some bad stuff about them, or maybe a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, the new looks are a little iffy IMO. thats a hard question. Functional- Hrmm The New Impala again. Or a Accord or Camry add them all up The new Impala SS has sport functionality (is that even a word?) commuterness and the such. But like I said the looks arent to hot IMO. $40-$60k will be easier.
EVO 8 Subaru STi Dodge Neon SRT (I know what your thinking but it's got 230 hp and does 0-60 in 5.7) BMW 3 Series Regards, Jon P. Kofod www.flatoutracing.net
There are so many choices at that pricepoint. I know it's almost a cliche in the auto world but it's hard to beat a 3-Series BMW. They lease out really well too.
OK I'll bite the 350Z i one I would Highly reccomend... I have been up and down on this one but have not heard any "Bad things" To what do you refer oh keeper of the american brand....
BMW 3 series is a good choice when he said under $40k anyhting Euro slipped my mind. speaking of Euro Audi A4 3.0. I have a soft spot for Audi.
I agree there are a lot of choices but around here EVERY A$$$HOLE HAS A BMW.... just look out my damn window and the parking lot has 15 4 black 3 blue and the rest silver or grey....
Dare i say it...? Should i...? Be brave...? Bold...? Just spit it out and say it...? MmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmPorscheBoxster! There i said it...! Hey, they start at $39,999 and you said under $40k, so hah! So what if it's the basest model, it's still a Porsche Boxster...! But if that's not your thing, how about an RX8...? What are Audi TTs going for these days...? How about a Toyota MR2 (Spyder) perhaps...? Maybe a new Supra...? How about :::GASP!::: a Hyundai Tiburon...?!?
He never said anything about a backseat, just a passenger OR TWO... Big difference... Get yer sh_t straight, slappy... Kisses, ta-ta for now...
SLK230 with a manual transmission.....and he never said a back seat......just "a" passenger seat. Image Unavailable, Please Login
back seat is not really a huge issue for me personally but if we thought of this as a young professional who needs to use the car for some work but wants to use it for personal use then a backseat would be a bonus... (Carbon the tibaron is a good choice but the Boxter may START at 39999 but a) find one at that price b) don't get the radio floor mats or a cup of coffee or you ar over the target)
Jim, a good friend of mine lives in NYC, but also keeps some cars up at his "Farm" near Lime Rock. Last I checked, he has: 2002 Mini S 1998 Maranello 1967 911S 2003 Land Rover MB E Something or the other MV Augusta hot rod Old Moto Guzzi V thingie Brand New Moto Guzzi V thingie Was looking at at 512BBi, a Porsche 917, a Daytona Spider. At one time, has owned just about every Ferrari made from the mid-60s on. Guess what his favorite car to drive is? Yep, the Mini S. He says that it is one of the best cars that he has ever driven, and this guy has driven a lot. Last I checked, they are under $30k. Dr "Mini-Me" Tax
350Z convertible..............or the RX 8 if you need 4 seats........best bets for quality, reliability, and virtually 0.00 maintenance..........I own both..........so I feel fairly comfortable saying these things.
2004 Acura TL. 270hp, 6speed available, brembo brakes, lots of technology. I looked at one at a dealership. Fully loaded w/navigation has a sticker of a little over $34k, but no one ever pays sticker for a new car anymore anyway. People at the acura-TL forums are buying them for around 33k. I feel the interior is leaps and bounds ahead of the interior of my 2003 TL Type-s. Check one out, you may like it.
Jim, radios, floor mats and coffee are for sissies...! Dale, i totally forgot about the Mini - awesome choice... Gus' girlfriend let me drive her Mini and it was awesome...!
Yeah, I forgot about the Mini.........it is a cool car......but kind of a chicks car..........sorry............. It is cool though............(I must confess, I have one of those too.)
