Gang, Tried to install the new HyperFlow cats today and ran into some issues. Cats look great but the OEM cats are fluted at the end, or have a lip (pictured). This "lip" matches the lip on the X-OST exhaust. As such, the clamp pictured here mates both sides flushly and adjoins the two pieces snugly with just a little tightening. The new cats have no lip. They're straight. I tried for a hour or so to find a way to properly join the end of the new cat and the exhaust. I even tried employing the old gasket from the other side of the cat, but that did not work either. Has anyone here mated a new aftermarket cat without a lip to a lipped exhaust and, if so, what did you do? Are there parts that will work well here. Thanks. ketel Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ketel, the old cats are not "lipped". The end section is a split clamp that has an interference fit. Carefully remove the split sleeve from the old cat using a brass or wood drive. Fit to the Hyperflows. Hope this helps.
Thanks, John. I popped them off with a few whacks of a rubber mallet. I was not familiar with that kind of clamp. Thanks again. ketel
The lips are called flanges. The clamps are the V-shaped things. Leave it a little loose until your fit everything in, both sides, then tighten. Good luck
I have that exact setup and I love it. Hyperflow and x-ost. I've probably had 25 Ferrari owners say it's the best sounding exhaust that they have ever heard. I also put in the Capristo bypass valve.
