Drove a pre-prod '11 Turbo not that long ago. Best all-around SUV on the planet today. There's no other SUV that's faster on track. So fast it made me laugh.

All the features you could want and tows almost 8,000 pounds. If you need 3 rows of seating, you need to look elsewhere.

Don't need 3rd row. We have an X5 with a third row. I currently have a cayenne GTS which I like but I'm really liking the redesign ... the video clips on the new turbo look pretty amazing. I drove a Panamera and loved the cockpit - looks like it carried over quite a bit to the Cayenne. I "fear" when I go test drive one I'll be placing an order :)

The interior is much like the Panamera. Way better than the previous Cayennes.

I saw one yesterday on the highway. It looks nice but it lost a lot of presence and the back reminds me of some Hyundai.

I'm sure there will be cosmetic changes mid cycle in a few years and i wonder if back would change much. Despite being a cash cow, I read that VW is pulling plug on Cayenne (and Panamera) and that after their 7 yr life cycles, that's it, only sports cars for Porsche - no sedans / SUVs

I started thread to get some opinions and perhaps first impressions from new Cayenne turbo owners. I am considering, maybe foolishly, trading in 1 yr old cayenne GTS for new gen turbo

I will believe that when I see it. Some would argue that the Cayenne saved their arse. The Panamera seems to be selling well too. Those two vehicles have brought a new buyer to the brand, why would they stop producing them??

agreed! the planned death of the cayenne and the panamera is simply an "urban myth".

I agree it seems crazy to do that, I'm just relaying what I read in an article describing VW takeover of Porsche.

It would be a no brained for me to get the new cayenne except for already purchasing a GTS one year ago.

That was then, this is now, etc. At some point the Cayenne and Touraeg are going to cannibalize each others' sales, especially if VW stops "dumbing down" the Touraeg. If profits are measured at the VW corporate level, Porsche can get out of the truck business and focus on motorsports and sports cars.

Went to check them out today and test drove a Cayenne turbo. The extra ponies and reduced weight was very noticeable over my GTS. The interior was a definite upgrade, even besides the extra leather you get standard on a turbo. They didn't have one with PDCC / PTV and the body lean was evident in harder corners. The only complaint: the servotronic (active steering) is standard and makes it feel UNgerman like. I have always loved the Porsche and BMW steering feel WITHOUT any 'active steering' nonsense.

Doubtful. The Cayenne and Panamera are becoming their biggest sellers.

Does anyone have firsthand knowledge / experience of an X5M vs. an '11 Cayenne Turbo? They both seem to be neck and neck.

I have an 08 X5 3.0 that my wife uses as a daily driver. Mine is a year old Cayenne GTS. My "hobby" car is an F430 which needs to be put away in the winter. I was thinking a Cayenne turbo would make it less painful to put the F car into hibernation off season.

    I do.

Cayenne Turbo is head and shoulders above anything else in the category.
